This time for the Tsukiyuki Miyako swimsuit convention photo shoot, I communicated with the photographer for a long time beforehand. This swimsuit styling of Miyako in Blue Archive looks simple, but to capture that everyday yet slightly ethereal feeling in convention photos is actually a real test of detail control.

Let's talk about the clothing match first. This outfit is a combination of a white off-the-shoulder ruffled cover-up and a dark blue one-piece swimsuit. The material of the cover-up is relatively thin and light; when walking, the hem and cuffs have a very natural fluttering feel, so during the shoot, I intentionally used my hands to pull at the edges of the clothes or made some arm-raising movements to make the fabric's wrinkles and layers richer. The dark blue swimsuit is a slim-fitting style, showing a certain luster under the lighting. To highlight the lines, the photographer suggested I shift my center of gravity slightly in the standing pose—like shielding my eyes with one hand while gently lifting the cover-up with the other in the picture—which nicely elongates the leg proportions and showcases the visual effect brought by the high-cut swimsuit. The shoes matched are black chunky-heeled single-strap sandals, echoing the swimsuit's black drawstrings and hair ornaments in color.

In terms of makeup, hair, and props, the white blunt-bangs short hair is trimmed very neatly, but to keep the wig from looking stiff, I used hair wax to gently fluff out some layers, and the black bow hair accessory on the side was fixed in place to ensure it won't get messy from different shooting angles. Blue contact lenses and a slightly aloof eye makeup were the focus, while light tones were used for the lips to keep the overall makeup translucent. The blue halo special effect on top of my head was specially requested to be added in post-processing, because there is another set of photos in the pictures, and with the halo added, even in an ordinary indoor studio, the character's recognizability is enhanced a lot. Carrying a transparent PVC material bag in hand also adds a bit of everyday or just-out-of-the-pool lifestyle feel.

The shooting venue was an indoor space paved with light-colored floor tiles and featuring frosted glass partitions. To create that slightly smoky and dreamy effect in the first picture, smoke cakes or a smoke machine were placed on site to produce some hazy white mist around the legs, matched with the overall soft pink-purple lighting so that the visuals wouldn't feel too cold or rigid. When shooting standing poses, this composition is my favorite in this set: the character is fully framed with relaxed limbs, allowing a complete view of the overall outfit effect and leg lines. The sitting pose photo is another style: legs crossed, holding the transparent bag, with a relatively calm gaze, recording a more relaxed state.

As someone who likes to archive their 2D life, every time I cosplay, I hope to try my best to restore the character's atmosphere in a specific scenario. This set of convention photos has no complex background boards, just a simple poolside outfit setting, but with the coordination of light, shadow, smoke, and actions, it showed the exact vibe I wanted. From ironing the clothes and styling the wig to cooperating with the lighting on site, although the whole process was tedious, the moment I saw the final photos, I felt all the preparation was worth it.
