This time I went to an anime convention and shot a classic black sailor suit look for Aisaka Taiga, choosing the outdoor area around the perimeter of the exhibition hall. Since the main prop was a long wooden sword wrapped with white cloth tape at the top, this aggressive and hardcore setup heavily tested posture control during the shoot. Constantly switching poses while holding a prop of this weight during the actual shoot did make my wrists a bit sore, but the detached and guarded atmosphere in the final photos turned out perfectly on point.

For the outfit, I chose a black long-sleeved sailor suit with the iconic three white stripes on the collar and cuffs. The large white bowtie on the chest and the metal badge collar button added great bonus details. The lower half was paired with a pleated mini skirt and black over-the-knee socks; the 'absolute territory' on the thighs perfectly balanced the heaviness of the large solid black areas, beautifully capturing that fierce yet childish schoolgirl vibe from the original work. For the hairstyle, I used a long, slightly curly orange-pink wig, intentionally keeping the straight bangs and the small tuft on top, with the ends of the wig styled to be fluffy and curled. The natural light on the shooting day was very abundant, and the high-key, clear tones perfectly showcased the texture of the black JK uniform, the layers of the wig, and the intricate wrapped textures on the wooden sword.

Honestly, every time I do an outdoor shoot for a classic older anime character, there's a strange, wonderful sense of time interlacing. Many people who watched this series might have already entered society and found their own rhythms of life. But the charm of a character lies in the fact that as long as you recreate those familiar expressions and iconic elements, it can instantly bring back the feelings of watching the anime back then. I didn't design overly complex movements this time; I mainly worked with the props to present quiet yet slightly cold postures, conveying that gap moe—appearing unapproachable on the outside but actually having a rich inner world—through my gaze and subtle finger movements. The costume, dominated by black and white tones, combined with the vibrant hair, is the biggest visual highlight of this set. The everyday settings like the fences and concrete steps around the outdoor location and exhibition venue perfectly neutralized the character's inherent exaggeration, making it look more real and natural. The entire shooting process was very smooth, and I also ran into many fellow fans. I hope this set of photos can convey Aisaka Taiga's unique and vivid school presence.
