For today's Genshin Impact Tsaritsa Anastasya cosplay, I went through countless adjustments from the initial styling to the fine photography details.
This costume has an immense amount of detail. The crown's ice-crystal structure consists of transparent pieces accented with silver paint; the edges are sharp, so putting it on required extra care to avoid scratching my skin, and the slightest movement could snag the wig. The bodice features a white base with golden patterns, while the blue satin skirt boasts a gorgeous luster whose reflections shift dynamically with every step. The plush armlets and blue flowing ribbons add volume to the character's silhouette, though they definitely tested my posing—raising an arm often tangled with the long hair, so I had to constantly tidy it between takes to prevent a messy look in the final shots.
I also poured substantial effort into the makeup and wig. The silver-gray long hair was restyled after layered trimming, with the front bangs gently curved using a curling iron and the edges tailored to frame the face. The elf ears props were seamlessly blended using specialized scar wax and concealer so the edges transitioned naturally into my skin tone. To channel the frosty essence of a Cryo character, I wore blue colored contacts, layered light blue and silver highlighters for the eyeshadow, and opted for a subtle pale-pink lip while minimizing blush to keep the overall face clean and aloof.
For the location, we selected a vintage blue leather sofa set against a dark oil-painting backdrop. Lighting was cast primarily from the front-side, ensuring the skirt's reflective sheen remained vivid while keeping facial contours sharply defined. Holding the milk tea cup in Photo 1 was an impromptu addition: posing non-stop gets exhausting, so I took a sip to relax. To my surprise, the resulting frame looked wonderfully organic and humorously echoed the 'Snow King' milk tea meme mentioned in the caption—a delightful little accident. In Photo 2, slipping off the shoe to touch the floor on tiptoe elongated the leg lines; the white stockings exhibited a soft matte texture under the studio lights, pairing with the white high heels to highlight sleek curves. Resting one hand against my forehead in Photo 3 was intended to capture the character's poised, sovereign composure.
My actual personality is quite bubbly, so maintaining a stoic face the whole time was genuinely challenging—hence the OOC apology in the caption, so please go easy on me! Bringing up the 'Snow King' was simply because seeing the snowman logo on the cup made me realize how fittingly it paired with this frosty winter theme.
A quick tip for fellow cosplayers: voluminous dresses like this are very easy to step on, so it's best to have a friend help lift the hem when switching sets to avoid tripping. If the wig goes flat, a dab of wig wax and a touch of setting spray worked through the ends will restore great volume. When posing, if you don't know what to do with your hands, resting them along the sofa armrest or gently brushing your forehead looks far more effortless than freezing them awkwardly mid-air.
The ambient lighting on set was dim with only the key light focused on me, making facial control paramount—the gaze must remain locked to project that chilling, imposing presence. I have also submitted this to the Genshin Impact Creator Incentive Program, hoping to showcase this 2D creative project to more people. Although the shoot was exhausting, seeing the finished frames made every ounce of effort completely worthwhile.
