Dialing in the lighting for this Azur Lane Laffey Bunny studio shoot was seriously demanding. Because the costume is predominantly blue and white set against a solid white background, it was extremely prone to blowing out highlights or washing away fabric textures. The photographer specifically fine-tuned the softbox angles to chisel out the subject contours and fabric sheen—especially the highlights along the legs, which had to be calibrated with pinpoint accuracy to capture that slick, silky texture.

First, let's talk about the outfit. The hair is long, wavy silver-white locks styled into a side ponytail with softly curled ends for added dimension. The headpiece features a plush bunny ear headband with pink inner ears, complemented by a blue sailor-style hairband and white pom-poms, blending bunny cuteness with the original character's nautical motifs. The headband pinched behind the ears after wearing it for hours, but for the sake of the look, that was a small price to pay. The top features a blue-and-white palette with an outer white capelet edged in blue piping, while the inner blue fabric is a lustrous satin that emits an alluring deep blue sheen under the studio lights. Pinned to the chest are a plush white bunny doll and a petite pink bow—a detail I absolutely adored and kept squeezing between takes for stress relief.

Moving to the lower half, white shorts are paired with the centerpiece: high-gloss white stockings (tights). Once slipped on, they shine brilliantly with incredible light reflection, catching the eye far more than standard matte white stockings while accentuating leg contours. To pull off these stockings, I gave my legs extra skincare prep before the shoot to ensure a flawless, gleaming finish. The footwear consists of white flats featuring black ankle ribbons and embroidered bunny faces across the vamps, executing the micro-details to perfection. To coordinate with the concept, I also painted my nails blue to echo the outfit's primary hue.

Props were kept minimal: a fresh carrot and cotton fluff used for practical cloud effects. For the first set, I sat atop a white carved European-style pedestal with legs crossed, lightly clutching my hair. That pose was quite strenuous to hold, as it demanded a rigid, upright core to present long leg lines and stocking sheen to the camera, where slouching even slightly ruined the energy. Plus, the short cut of the bottoms required immense caution to prevent wardrobe slips. For the second set, I reclined closer to the floor to embrace a languid, sleepy vibe. The photographer scattered cotton across the floor to craft a soft, dreamy cloudscape, accented by the carrot nearby to instantly spark quiet storytelling.

The entire shoot was a blast. Being in a climate-controlled studio spared us from outdoor wind and sunburn. However, to faithfully register garment textures and translucent skin tones, the lights were dialed up so brightly that my eyes were dazzled, requiring frequent eye drops and brief rests between takes. The makeup artist kept the base natural and light, emphasizing red contact lenses and rosy blush to evoke that innocent, doll-like charm without letting heavy eye makeup overpower the styling.

Throughout the session, the photographer constantly guided my posture—from holding the carrot naturally to angling my legs for maximum visual elongation. For anime characters, body language often carries far more weight than expressions alone, especially when channeling Laffey's sleepy, soft demeanor. Keeping the frame clean meant relying purely on lighting precision and nuanced posing rather than cluttered props. Thankfully, the final edits turned out wonderfully: the crisp freshness of the blue-and-white palette and the adorable bunny ear charm were captured in full glory, doing complete justice to every carefully prepared detail.
