When prepping for this shoot, I mainly wanted to play with the ethereal feel of blue tones, blending elements like the deep sea and The sound of falling snow into a unified visual structure. The set design team was super thoughtful, setting up expansive semi-transparent blue and white drapes paired with high-reflection floor mirrors—stepping into the studio instantly brought a quiet calm, matching this immersive dreamlike atmosphere perfectly.
To achieve clear, translucent cold tones, we relied almost entirely on blue and white cool light sources. When this light hits the white sheer dress, it creates a soft diffuse reflection that enhances skin tone clarity while making pearl strings and crystal chains sparkle with rich luster. I feel this lighting setup is ideal for capturing quiet, slightly melancholic qualities akin to a mermaid or sea moon, blending naturally with studio props like white vine creepers, European white candles, and dried flowers.
For hair and makeup, I used a blue-and-white gradient long wavy wig, carefully styling root layers and front bangs while adding a subtle rhinestone forehead piece that frames the face with ethereal flair. Pearlescent cool-toned eye makeup with lifted outer corners and muted lips gave the facial state a serene, cool, and gentle touch without aggressiveness. A white lace choker matched the small stand collar and cutout design of the white sheer dress seamlessly.
Regarding outfit design, the highlight of this white sheer dress lies in its layering and lightness. Waist cutouts and 3D blue flower decorations along the side added exquisite detail to the ethereal aesthetic. Off-the-shoulder ruffled sleeves balanced arm skin exposure nicely. The skirt featured a high slit, with light blue flowers and vine straps dotting the legs to extend visual proportions while mirroring pearl chains on the ground. When light penetrated the lower dress hem, the semi-transparent texture looked captivating.
During shooting, directing poses was also intriguing. Because the floor mirrored reflections, switching between standing and sitting required tight center-of-gravity control to avoid mishaps and keep reflections crisp. I chose the first image as the cover because its composition is incredibly balanced. The subject stands centered, holding up the sheer skirt as blue hair flows naturally with movement, flanked by ground pearls and crystal chains to focus visual attention. This shot captures the flowing dress, elongated leg lines, and focused gaze simultaneously, making it an ideal visual hook.
Other photos reinforced this vibe from different angles. Sitting shots highlighted leg details and the lazy mood of holding up the skirt, with blue and white sheer fabric fanning out like a blooming flower on the sea surface. The fourth glance-back photo emphasized back lines and side emotions; under cool lighting, negative space and sheer drapes interwove to evoke a subtle storybook feel.
Large-scale cold-toned creations can easily turn out flat or overly chilly, so we intentionally incorporated pearls, white sheer veil, 3D blue flowers, and textured background branches to break color monotony. Whether expressing crisp snow winds or deep-sea tranquility, these small detail touches were key. Finishing this shoot felt not just like delivering a look, but polishing my control over specific mood visuals for Ganyu Cosplay in Genshin Impact.
