Standing by the sea during this shoot, I felt today's sea breeze was much stronger than imagined. I originally thought I could capture a gentle, serene ambiance, but the wind was so powerful that the sound of rolling waves was blown directly back into my ears. Wearing this Genshin Impact Yoimiya cosplay costume on the open sand, my geta sandals sank into wet sand, so every step required extreme caution, fearing a loss of balance might knock me into the surf.
Although the strong wind added difficulty to the shoot, it happened to align perfectly with the lively, energetic state I wanted to convey. The loose red outer coat and the massive red shimenawa knot prop on my back were blown high in the fierce wind, creating a striking visual contrast against the cool blue sky and sea. To capture the most natural side, I adjusted my breathing and struck the agile posture in Photo 1 with both hands raised, shouting into the wind. Though the wind blew my bangs messy and not as neat as imagined, that wild, natural airy feel added a touch of authenticity and freedom to the photos.
In Photo 2, I deliberately turned sideways, pretending to block the wind or listen to its sound. Honestly, I was actually trying to protect my eyes from blowing sand, but it turned out surprisingly \"story-rich.\" As for Photo 3, showing my back to the sea with hands on hips was mainly to display the heavy red rope knot prop behind me. To faithfully recreate the character's aura, I put great effort into hair styling, using a custom golden wig adorned with floral hair ornaments to make the overall image as vivid as possible.
During this Beach photography shoot, besides resisting the wind, I constantly faced the rising and falling tides. Waves washed over my feet one after another, soaking the geta soles and tabi socks completely, but this actually allowed me to relax and lean into that disheveled state for the expression. Honestly, in past large-scene shoots, I often held back for fear of getting dirty or tired, but encouraged by the Genshin Impact Creator Incentive Program, I wanted to challenge myself to convey the character's untamed passion. To maximize fidelity, I adjusted inner layerings carefully, and maintaining an upright posture in the wind against the waist cincher really tested my core strength. Although not wearing tights, choosing black over-the-knee long socks with authentic geta offered a crisp, sleek feel when standing in the wind with exposed skin and leg lines. In Photo 1, I deliberately tiptoed slightly, using the wind direction to lift the skirt hem and give my overall posture more dynamic tension.
The arrival of the blue hour is truly the golden time for outdoor shoots. Light smoothly transitions from the horizon to the sky without harsh direct sunlight, enveloping everything in a soft, cool-toned light and shadow that gives photos shot in those few minutes an exceptionally high-end texture. Though my ears were filled with howling sea breeze and my feet were in icy seawater, at that moment, I felt not only immersed in a cosplay process, but also undergoing a unique outdoor location experience. Ultimately, this set of photos wasn't heavily retouched for overly smoothed skin or fake white filters; instead, it preserved textures carved by wind and traces of flying hair, matching the red-and-black outfit combined with sea waves. Especially on that evening where wave sounds and wind merged into one, the frozen frame itself is filled with a sense of breathing.
