From the initial makeup trials to the finalized photos, this Mint Idol styling for Firefly ACG Expo offered great hands-on experience, and I've finally sorted through the finished convention photo set.
First, breaking down the styling logic: the top is a light blue halter-neck cropped style featuring a front keyhole cutout, made of elastic fabric that hugs the silhouette closely. The metal buckle choker around the neck serves as the crowning touch, injecting a subtle techwear edge. Below, it pairs with a multi-layered tutu skirt: the topmost layer is a blue-and-white checkered pattern with an oversized matching bow sewn at the front, flowing down into a vibrant blue hemline trimmed with black lace frills along the bottom tier. Anchored by blue and white with black accents, the visual palette remains dynamic and layered.
For accessories, I picked a blue cat ear headband with sequin accents; the plush black inner ears flatter facial proportions nicely while leaning into this Sweet-cool outfit concept. My left arm was styled with a sheer glitter sleeve and beaded bracelets, grounded by white crew socks and silver platform Mary Janes—a combination that elongates the leg lines while keeping walking steady, which is essential for convention days with nonstop foot traffic.
The wig was a sleek black straight cut with blunt bangs. While it requires constant combing against frizz, it photographs exceptionally well. To complement the blue contacts, the eye makeup layered subtle earth tones with micro-shimmer, finished with blush swept under the eyes for a bright, energetic idol vibe. A dewy lip glaze added a natural, juicy flush when smiling.
The outdoor shoot took place near crosswalks and guardrails. The photographer framed angles brilliantly: in the second full-body shot, leaning lightly against the metal railing with my weight anchored onto one leg and the other bent slightly forward flattered my leg proportions without looking stiff. In the first half-body close-up, placing an index finger against my lips in a 'shh' gesture, paired with direct eye contact, lifted interactive depth. A wide aperture blurred out passing pedestrians, evoking an authentic Japanese street-snap feel.
Attending conventions is always an endurance test. While this outfit looks stunning, the tiered skirt demanded cautious navigation through packed halls to avoid getting stepped on. Still, the event was delightful, and I met so many kind photographers and fellow fans. Sincere apologies to anyone whose path was momentarily blocked during shooting, or if any styling details fell short—thank you so much for your understanding and support.
