[Evanescia cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail: Convention photos of the pink-haired fox - Image 2

The photos for Evanescia from Honkai: Star Rail are finally complete. Seeing the steel framework and the circular ceiling lighting rig at the convention venue, I consulted with photographer Qi Wu about utilizing this rugged industrial backdrop to accentuate the character's pink aesthetic. Recreating this pink-haired fox character actually demands great attention to costume textures and prop coordination.

First, let's talk about the hair and makeup. The wig was a short pink style that required meticulous styling to achieve airy volume, crowned by prominent long rabbit-like ears adorned with golden cloud motifs. The white long-sleeved coat features wide draping sleeves, while the navy pleated skirt is accented with red tassels. To complement the outfit, I wore semi-sheer Black stockings and a pair of platform heeled ankle boots, which were strapped with ribbons and metallic floral ornaments. Gripping the pink katana prop in hand immediately brought the entire presence together. The fabric's subtle patterns and the gold trim along the skirt hem could easily wash out under convention lighting, making the choice of angles critical.

Moving on to posing: the first crouching shot was taken kneeling on the floor. Holding the sword with one hand while gesturing with the other in heeled boots required keeping my center of gravity firmly balanced. The second image was an action snapshot taken while standing—flicking the sleeve just in time captured the flared skirt mid-motion. The convention lighting was relatively complex, so Qi Wu differentiated the lighting scheme by dimming the ambient environment to emphasize the subject. To capture the skirt fanning out gracefully, I jumped several times while standing to nail the perfect frame. The kneeling pose focused on showcasing the legs, where the combination of Black stockings and platform heels visually elongated the proportions.

Regarding the prop, wielding that pink long sword in a crowded convention hall was quite challenging. The pink-and-white stripes and floral motifs on the blade are instantly recognizable, carrying a noticeable weight in hand. When shooting, finger placement had to align naturally with the hilt grip rather than appearing rigid. Because the skirt is mini-length, caution was necessary when crouching to prevent wardrobe malfunctions; the wide sleeves of the coat spreading out upon kneeling conveniently filled out the negative space in the frame.

For makeup, pink eyeshadow and blush were emphasized to echo the hair color. The gloves were white, requiring extra care not to obscure the face while holding props. Color grading favored a low-saturation backdrop set against the vivid subject, making the pink hair and blue skirt pop vividly in the frame. The overall photos met our envisioned expectations, with the physical poses and expressions closely matching the character design. Walking around the convention floor all day in this full getup made my legs truly sore, but seeing the final images made every bit worthwhile.
