[Bocchi cosplay] Bocchi the Rock! Bocchi-chan's Guitar Practice Day

Today, this Bocchi cosplay photoshoot was finally produced smoothly. Preparing for this character took quite a while. For the core pink long wig, I trimmed the bangs, styled the small side ponytail on the side, and added that iconic blue hair clip, which basically established the character's signature silhouette. Since she has extreme social anxiety, I deliberately applied a slightly droopy eye makeup paired with bright blue contact lenses to create an innocent yet evasive look. The pink track jacket with white stripes paired with the gray pleated skirt is an iconic look; to add more layering, I wore Black stockings and brown loafers.

The shooting location was chosen in a very professional music studio. The green blinds cast beautiful stripes of light and shadow. Studio monitors and effects pedals sat nearby, with a drum kit and guitar amps tucked into the corner—this music-filled atmosphere was perfect for Bocchi-chan as a Guitar girl. That black-and-gold electric guitar was actually quite heavy and had serious weight on my shoulder; while posing playing motions, I kept wondering how she manages to carry such a heavy instrument and practice constantly. In terms of posing, I immersed myself in her socially anxious personality—avoiding direct eye contact with the camera, tilting my head slightly down, or clutching my head while cowering on the sofa to express her inner aversion and tension toward socializing. Yet, the moment she picks up the guitar and rests her fingertips on the strings, she needs to radiate total focus.

While capturing the light, the photographer used the striped shadows from the blinds across my outfit and hair, creating a wonderful sense of depth. During the shoot, I paid special attention to the texture of the Black stockings—aiming to recreate the 2D visual effect of the legs in real life, the over-the-knee length had to be controlled precisely so they wouldn't slip down while keeping the leg lines sleek. The loafers looked great, though walking around indoors made my soles ache a bit. The guitar strap also had thought put into it; I chose a black strap accented with small badges to add subtle details while slinging the guitar. The whole shoot was divided into standing playing poses and sitting spacing-out poses: standing required a straight spine to show a performer's posture, while sitting was completely relaxed or even slouched, showing how Bocchi-chan usually looks when left alone. Throughout the session, the photographer guided my emotions, helping me imagine how a socially anxious guitarist would react in front of a lens.

Every Anime cosplay is a journey of getting to know the character all over again. To fit the persona, I practiced guitar-holding postures; even if I can't really play, the hand gestures at least had to look legit. After wrapping up this set, I felt completely immersed in the Bocchi the Rock! world. Seeing the final edits made all the hard work carrying that heavy guitar and practicing poses worthwhile. I hope everyone viewing these photos can feel Bocchi-chan's unique charm—timid yet bursting with musical passion.
