The Convention photos from Chongqing Dreamland Comic Con are finally organized! Cosplaying this Swimsuit Azusa look for Shirasu Azusa from Blue Archive took immense thought and dedication from prep to final styling in this Anime cosplay journey. Since I had to walk around the venue, every intricate detail of the costume had to be secured beforehand. The golden crescent moon hair accessory on top, alongside the side ribbons and tags, were pinned down with numerous bobby pins so they wouldn't easily fall off during the event; paired with the silvery-white twin-tails, the overall fidelity truly came through. For makeup, I specifically chose purple-blue contact lenses and accentuated cheek blush, aiming to present the character's iconic translucent yet subtly playful charm before the lens.
The outfit features rich, multi-tiered layering: the deep blue, pink, and white ruffled tube top at the chest, combined with detachable striped puff sleeves whose blue lace hems flutter naturally with every step. The pink stripes and vibrant bright-pink bow on the miniskirt are exceptionally eye-catching, while the pair of white faux-feather wings on my back serves as both a primary visual centerpiece and a heavy physical workout. To endure walking around the crowded con floor, the harness straps for the wings had to be cinched tight while ensuring unrestricted arm movement. Holding the transparent inflatable swim ring prop in hand is the true soul of this look—though holding it for hours left my arms sore, the photographic result was surprisingly fantastic.
Lighting at convention venues typically consists of overhead top-lighting, which, combined with the ceiling's steel truss framework, genuinely tests the synergy between cosplayer and photographer. To achieve dynamic framing, I experimented with dynamic poses like lifting one leg. Even wearing wedge sandals, maintaining balance on the smooth, reflective floor while controlling facial expressions and body posture required solid core strength. There was quite a crowd watching during the shoot, but the moment you face the lens, bringing your absolute best state is what cosplay is all about.
Compared to a controlled studio setting, a convention hall is vastly more complex—sprawling spaces, dense crowds, and chaotic lighting. Yet that is precisely where the allure of Convention photos lies: the blurred light stands and passing crowds in the background actually enhance the authentic on-site presence. While the poses in Photos 1 and 3 are somewhat similar, the subtle twist of the waist and the way the prop is held create completely distinct visual tension. The pose in Photo 2, raising a hand to shield against the light or wave hello, was designed to showcase the costume's frontal layering with clarity. The entire shoot went smoothly; the photographer was fantastic at freezing split-second kinetic motion, capturing both the layered textures of the garments and the dynamic energy of the character.
From makeup trials to on-site shooting, every convention experience is a dual test of physical stamina and patience. But seeing the light and shadows dance across the white feather wings and silver wig in the finished images made every bit of preparation feel completely worthwhile. This wasn't merely a shoot; it was a heartfelt, immersive dialogue with the character. Moving forward, I will continue bringing carefully crafted looks to major conventions, fully reveling in this pure joy.
