This photoshoot project was centered on Marin Kitagawa. To faithfully capture her character concept from My Dress-Up Darling, a lot of homework went into the pre-production phase. For the wig, I selected a style featuring a pink-orange gradient, intentionally adding red peekaboo highlights to the ends and inner layers, trimmed with full, blunt bangs to flatter the facial frame. For makeup, the eyes emphasized defined inner corners and lower eyelid contouring, paired with high-pigment colored contacts and bold eyeliner. The lips were finished with a dewy, rosy lip tint to recreate her iconic gyaru charm.
Regarding the outfit, I picked an oversized, fluffy white knit sweater, deliberately styling it off one shoulder to reveal the black camisole strap underneath. For the bottom, I paired black shorts with ribbed White slouch socks; resting just below the knee, the slouch socks effectively sculpted the leg contours and visually elongated the leg proportions. The set was chosen within an gaming room filled with pink elements—the pink gaming chair, computer desk, and PC tower established a cohesive color palette. To add playful variety, I brought a miniature pink metal shopping cart as an interactive prop.
The shoot was quite a test of body control. Lying on the pink plush rug required propping up the torso on my elbows while casually raising both legs upward; this posture highlighted the fuzzy texture of the sweater while accentuating the lines of the legs and White slouch socks. Sitting inside the shopping cart was my favorite segment of the shoot. While I initially worried the metal wire would be uncomfortable, once I settled into the right position, the visual result was surprisingly stunning. Whether resting my chin in both hands looking straight into the lens, or stretching one arm upward with legs lightly crossed, it established dynamic layers against the pink gaming chair backdrop. The pink phone in my hand also served as a versatile prop, naturally easing any awkwardness from staring directly into the camera.
In terms of facial expressions, to bring out the character's lively confidence, I experimented with various eye expressions—sometimes squinting playfully, other times staring into the lens with a hint of sassy charm. The overall lighting was kept warm, making the white sweater appear wonderfully soft and cozy. This shoot not only explored an everyday cute aesthetic, but also integrated personal touches in the details, aiming to present an energetic yet subtly alluring girl lounging at home. From wardrobe curation to set styling and fine-tuning every single pose, everything was directed toward recreating the character's authentic atmosphere in this unique setting, resulting in a truly enjoyable photoshoot experience.
