This shoot took place at the Scott Monument in Edinburgh, and the weather was exceptionally cooperative. Having set my mind on faithfully portraying this character, I spent a long time preparing the long green wig in advance; when purchasing it, I worried about the difficulty of maintaining such a length, but once put on it was manageable—just somewhat heavy, easily blown wild whenever the wind picked up. The outfit was paired with White over-the-knee boots and red-and-black gloves. The boots are truly a hassle to slip on and off, especially with high heels; to strike various poses across the stone walls and benches, we spent considerable time moving back and forth on location.
The photographer was muyun, who excels at utilizing natural lighting and shadow interplay. The first three photos were taken on a stone platform in front of a classical building under intense backlighting streaming through the gaps in the stonework. Even without auxiliary fill light, the halo formed by sunlight around the edges of the hair strands evoked a poignant, dreamlike ambiance. The third and fourth shots were staged near benches and parapet walls against an unobstructed blue sky and gothic spires. To elongate the legs, the photographer used a wide-angle lens for low-angle upward framing; the compositional stability was solid, allowing the character's imposing aura to echo the soaring heights of the architecture.
Throughout the shoot, I stayed closely aligned with the character's internal mindset. For instance, in the shot seated on the redwood bench, I opted for an extended single leg while resting my chin on my hand, letting my gaze drift into distant vacancy. Portraying this character requires capturing that elusive, aloof aura—distant yet commanding attention. Meanwhile, standing with wrapped arms and a lowered head was intended to express the solitary burden borne across the passage of endless time.
Walking around Edinburgh the entire day was physically exhausting, and despite the continuous chilly winds, the photo output was deeply satisfying. In an authentic outdoor environment flanked by classical stone architecture, slipping into that specific emotional headspace came effortlessly. Wrapping up this Cosplay photography set provided a more concrete, profound connection with the character; capturing frozen moments under monumental structures and transient lighting is truly an experience studio shoots cannot replicate. During shooting, I paid close attention to detail fidelity, ensuring the costume pairing and wig styling remained neat and clean.
