[Arknights Ch'en cosplay & Lin Yuxia cosplay] Long Shot in the Rainy Night of Lungmen

Putting on Ch'en's gear and standing before the glass window with white lettering on a blue background, the most immediate sensations were the weight of the walkie-talkie on my chest and the stuffiness of the blue wig. My partner cosplayed Lin Yuxia cosplay; her long pink-purple hair and fluffy beast ears created an authentic warm-and-cool color contrast against my blue twin tails and dragon horns.

The text we selected for the background this time resonated deeply with the character settings in Arknights. The backdrop board displayed Lungmen Quotes: "It has rained many times in Lungmen, and so has our life," and "Midnight is not over yet, but Lungmen is already awake." Through these words, the underlying mood of a modern metropolis—cold, weary, yet enduringly resilient—was brought forth. During the shoot, we had to find just the right angles in front of the red brick wall and green foliage, avoiding frame edges while creating an intangible connection between the two of us. The third image, as my solo close-up, featured a gaze adjusted to pierce directly through the lens; combined with the orange tie and black coat texture, it became the most visually impactful shot of the set in this Urban photography collection.

To be honest, suiting up completely and maintaining that stoic detachment takes considerable stamina. Straightening the tie, adjusting the wig, and controlling facial muscles meant immersing myself in the character's mindset—experiencing that sense of destiny, standing by in the pouring rain, ready to strike at any moment. Shooting this set of Ch'en cosplay and Lin Yuxia cosplay was really about recreating a specific urban atmosphere. Throughout the shoot, my partner and I continuously calibrated our positions; because the blue background text and surrounding greenery split the frame rigidly, finding the right gaps was essential to unleash the aura of both characters.

Post-processing preserved as much of the raw texture as possible, skipping heavy soft-focus effects to make the crisp, cool urban style stand out. To me, faithfully portraying a character isn't just about matching appearances and outfits; it's about accurately conveying the emotions behind the words through the lens. Life in Lungmen is too fast-paced, too long, sometimes feeling endless, but it is precisely this oppressive environment that gives the characters' stances greater tension when facing difficult choices. Completing this shoot was also a deeply cathartic emotional release for me.

Taking off the coat after wrapping up and looking at that blue board felt as if I had truly persevered through an entire night. That shooting experience of finding the balance of light and shadow in the cold wind is far more profound than simple posing.
