[Haruka cosplay] Between the Stage and the Staff in Arknights

For this shoot, I chose the look of Haruka from Arknights. The color scheme of the entire outfit is highly recognizable, featuring a cropped white zip-up jacket as the primary visual, paired with a dark blue buttoned tube-top mini dress inside, cinched at the waist with a broad red belt and metallic charms. The most eye-catching feature is the red-and-white gradient translucent tulle draping from the waist, appearing lightweight and richly layered under the studio lighting.

Two sets of props were prepared for this shoot. The first was a long-handled magical staff. The metallic texture of this prop was crafted very solidly, with a silver-gray shaft paired with an intricate red-and-white headpiece that felt substantial. Standing on the white round pedestal, I adjusted my center of gravity onto one leg while letting the other cross naturally, matching the tilt angle of the staff to create the character's calm, composed aura. Photographer @廾匸-柳贯一 captured it wonderfully, helping me get into character quickly.

For the second set, the prop switched to a handheld microphone, accompanied by an energetic single-leg lift pose that instantly broke the prior seriousness. When holding the microphone, my arm needed to be raised higher, creating an asymmetrical dynamic line throughout the body. As a result, the sheer tulle at the hem and the red lacing on the boots gained a vibrant, stretched tension. This contrast between stillness and motion gave the entire performance immense depth, capturing the essence of Stage photography.

For hair and makeup, I wore a light Pink hair cosplay wavy long wig. The large red bow on top was the crowning touch of the look, echoing seamlessly with the red lip makeup and red over-the-elbow gloves. For makeup, I deliberately thickened the eyeliner contours to give the gaze a sharper, more resolute look. The shooting pace went smoothly; although organizing the long laces on the White ankle boots took some time, the boots' platform and heel design elongated the leg lines, making my stance appear taller and more poised.

The backdrop styling this time was very clean, using a soft gradient of peach pink and pale yellow without cluttered elements, keeping all visual focus concentrated on the subject. The top lighting was distributed evenly, accurately rendering the three primary colors: red, white, and blue. Through this Haruka cosplay project, I realized that for outfits with such high-contrast, recognizable palettes, clean and crisp movements deliver exceptional visual results before the camera.
