The finished photos of Evernight from 4.4 IPTV are finally here. Portraying Omphalos' most melancholic maiden, I spent considerable time since first seeing the design figuring out how to embody that cool, somber temperament.
First, regarding the makeup and hair styling: the short Pink hair was layered with textured edges, and the bangs were given a subtle inward curve to softly frame the corners of my eyes, softening any sharpness in my gaze. The red contact lenses are the soul of the look; for eye makeup, low-saturation reddish-brown gradients were swept across broad areas, drawing out the lash line gently without harsh cut-creases, maintaining luminous porcelain skin alongside deep, evocative eyes.
The outfit boasts rich structural layering. The dark dress features a crisp white stand collar with ruffled trims, accented at the chest by a red bow, silver cross, and delicate chains—a timeless black, white, and red harmony. I particularly adore the leg styling: black strappy garter rings accented with red star motifs, paired with white ankle socks and platform shoes featuring red soles, visually elongating leg proportions. Layering sheer nude Stockings also ensured seamless skin tone consistency and sleek texture.
For props, the black umbrella etched with subtle red flame patterns stood out brilliantly at the Anime convention venue. Flanking it were floating red semi-sheer tulle ribbons adorned with tiny silver beads. Despite the chaotic venue top-lighting, photographer @ChengyeChengye expertly guided the lights, using side rim illumination to pierce through the sheer red fabric, creating a radiant, self-luminous glow across the frame.
During shooting, to honor the character's melancholic persona, poses had to stay effortless and measured. Seated on a high stool, I crossed my legs naturally, resting one hand upon the open umbrella while slightly raising the other to manage the fluttering ribbons, maintaining a distant, vacant gaze. Moving onto the white plush rug spread across the floor, I adopted a semi-reclined pose—an angle that cleanly displayed the skirt's lace and asymmetrical hemline while accentuating fluid leg lines under the lights. When walking, letting the umbrella drape loosely while catching the venue's diffused reflections preserved an aloof, detached body language. The convention hall was indeed noisy and teeming with passerby crowds and studio flashes, but once fully immersed in character, everything around dissolved into soft background blur.
Post-processing was kept very subtle, primarily preserving natural skin texture and crisp specular highlights. I truly hope this ambiance conveys the quintessential essence of Evernight.
