When I put on this black, white, and red short coat and walked into the church architectural complex at night, the slightly cool outdoor air mixed with the ambient lighting rushed in, making me feel instantly transported into that serene long night scene. Portraying March 7th in this Evernight form this time, my main goal was to present that solemn yet slightly melancholic tone through a night view cosplay. To fit this setting, we abandoned the conventional bright daytime lighting effects and instead utilized red and pink-purple ambient atmosphere lights to sculpt the silhouette, allowing the light pink wig and the predominantly dark costume to create a mysterious contrast under the glow of the red light. I specifically kept the makeup clean with a fresh base and clear brow lines, ensuring a crisp visual presentation even under high-contrast night lighting.

Speaking of the shooting location, this time it was chosen in front of a church-style building with tall classical stone columns and wide steps. The night outdoor location had very few people, allowing us to safely try multiple camera positions and different angles. Those Roman columns towering to the top of the frame inherently carry a sense of authority and history, perfectly matching the character's cool and aloof traits. Conducting a cosplay shoot in a dim outdoor environment is actually quite a test for the photographer's lighting experience. Outdoor shoots aren't like studio sessions where light positions can be easily adjusted; due to the dark ambient environment light, fill lights must be relied upon to carve out the contour lines of the road as well as the stylized light and shadow of facial features. To make my skin texture look soft while highlighting the stitching details of the clothing and the glossy sheen of the wig strands, my photography teacher @椰子侠313 adjusted the angles of the softboxes multiple times on-site, even cleverly utilizing the reflected light from the stone columns to make up for the lack of key light on my face. I am very satisfied with the final cool-glamorous red and pink color tones; the photos have a striking impact without looking overly greasy from heavy filters, and the layering of light and shadow is beautifully preserved.

The most noteworthy thing about this photo set is the black umbrella prop. To be honest, completely recreating the exquisite look from the original setting requires very advanced craftsmanship, and since time was tight, I decided to modify it myself using DIY handmade props methods. Taking an ordinary black umbrella as a base, I used red automatic spray paint to modify the inner side of the umbrella canopy, working hard to piece together a huge texture resembling blooming red petals. Although a closer look at the edge details reveals obvious traces of DIY handcrafting, which deviates somewhat from the official design, I felt a real sense of accomplishment when the prop I made with my own hands achieved an amazing effect under the photographer's lighting. Standing on the steps holding this umbrella, watching the red light filter through the petal-shaped canopy onto my face while a gentle breeze swayed my wig, genuinely gave me a true sense of being immersed in a fantasy atmosphere.

The entire shooting process was actually more exhausting than imagined, especially when performing high-leg lifts on the steps while wearing ankle boots; I had to maintain smooth movements while controlling my expressions to avoid looking distorted. The mosquitoes and cold wind of the nighttime outdoor shoot were also considerable challenges. However, when seeing the photos replayed in the camera—especially that frame where I opened the umbrella and tilted my head slightly toward the lens, watching the surrounding red petal light spots fluttering down in the frame—I felt that all the hard work of repeatedly adjusting my posture and enduring discomfort was completely worth it. In terms of expression control, I intentionally maintained a slightly detached yet calm demeanor, trying to hide this elegance within a tranquil gaze without making overly exaggerated expressions. This is exactly where I see the meaning of cosplay: not just chasing a resemblance in appearance, but doing one's best to capture the essence of the atmosphere through subtle expressions.

Every shoot brings new sparks with my photography partner, and this exploration of the night church venue also allowed me to accumulate a lot of experience in handling live situations. Big thanks to @椰子侠 for the patient guidance and snapshots, enabling this set of work to be smoothly produced. Because it's an umbrella I modified myself, although imperfect, that authentic sense of handmade participation makes this shoot even more meaningful as a keepsake.
