[Goldenglow cosplay] Arknights: Sweet Daily Life with Red-and-White Plaid Bows and Hello Kitty

For this Goldenglow cosplay styling from Arknights, while preserving the character's fundamental traits, I experimented with incorporating Hello Kitty decorative elements from the Sanrio collaboration.

In terms of attire, I selected this red-and-white Japanese-style dress. The high-collared white ruffled design paired with a red ribbon bow, the heart-shaped gem pendant on the chest, and the three large red buttons at the waist faithfully recreate the core cute traits of this Pink-haired girl. The gloves are snug white gloves that enhance interactivity when holding plush dolls.

For the hairstyle, I chose a medium-short pink wig with fluffy bangs. An oversized red checkered bow trimmed with white lace sits on the crown, while tiny star hairpins scattered among the strands add a lively touch.

The makeup focuses on a clear, natural finish—a fair base paired with warm brown contact lenses to highlight clean eye contours. Lashes are distinct and defined without overly dense false lashes, complemented by highlight accents to give the gaze a gentle warmth. Front-facing flash lighting was used during the shoot to bring out the delicate texture of the pastel pink hair in true Japanese sweet style.

For props, I chose an iconic white Hello Kitty plush doll adorned with a strawberry-patterned pink bow that echoes its yellow nose. The red-and-white strawberry apron on the doll creates a visual extension and balance with my white dress, making the entire frame playful and full of interaction.

Regarding on-site execution, I used direct front hard light against a pure white wall background. While this lighting tends to cast darker shadows under the jawline and arms, the heightened contrast makes the pink hair and red bow pop even more. In post-processing, I embraced a minimalist approach to preserve authentic photo textures, only fine-tuning color saturation to ensure smooth, gentle transitions between red and pink.

I also want to touch upon my interpretation of Goldenglow as a character in Arknights. Even with crossover elements integrated into the styling, the overall mood strives to stay faithful to her gentle, well-behaved daily persona. Japanese sweet style outfits prioritize subtle details, so the collar ruffles, glove cuffs, and head bow positioning were finalized after repeated trial and comparison.

My energy was great on the day of the shoot; while holding the plushie, I carefully controlled my arm angles to avoid squeezing the doll out of shape and to prevent my shoulders from appearing too broad. These subtle details are crucial for flat 2D presentation. To match this refreshing look, I spent an hour styling the bangs and side locks beforehand, as pink wigs easily show frizz and require specialized handling to layer neatly.

Overall, this photoshoot delivered a Japanese sweet style Goldenglow cosplay work balancing character identity with the Sanrio collaboration theme. From wig comfort to garment mobility, I made sure everything was well-considered.
