Cosplaying Tomimi (Tomimi cosplay) from Arknights at the CICF Expo gave me plenty of memorable impressions to record. Tomimi's look is packed with intricate costume and prop details, making pre-shoot prep quite involved. The dark top has a form-fitting cut, especially with the large side cutouts and crisscross straps, requiring meticulous adjustments to ensure smooth movement without uncomfortably digging into the skin.

The wig is a textured, layered silver-gray short cut; the fibers are fairly stiff and resist flattening, but the bangs needed careful angle trimming to drape just over the eyes and accentuate the sharpness of the red pupils. For eye makeup, I deliberately elongated the outer eye corners with dark eyeliner, paired with red contact lenses to recreate the character's unique gaze. Skin tone needed to be as clean and fair as possible to contrast with the dark blue and black garments. My thighs were fitted with black Stockings featuring large cutout sections (Black stockings); these stockings had great elasticity, staying up all day without slipping while nicely flattering the thighs and leaving the strap placements perfectly visible.

The tail on my back was the heaviest centerpiece of this gear, built with an internal support skeleton. Fortunately, its center of gravity was well-balanced, so navigating through crowds didn't pose much worry about deformation, though wearing it for hours certainly left my shoulders aching, and walking required mindful dodging of obstacles behind me. The staff and ring combo in hand was solid and sturdy; while tiring to hold aloft, it brought immense tension as a photo prop.

At the CICF Expo, we captured two poses across photos 1 and 2. Photo 1 features a profile stance looking back over the shoulder—a relaxed posture showcasing leg lines and overall body curves without looking stiff. Photo 2 is a fist-clenched forward-charging stance, which better displayed the extension of the staff and the dynamic motion of the tail, delivering authentic combat momentum. To avoid passersby in the background during the shoot, the photographer and I specifically located an angle along the edge of the lawn; the warm sunlight cast gently without harsh backlighting, yielding great results in post-processing by simply maintaining natural color tones.

The strap and cutout designs are the core of this entire styling; to avoid leaving strap marks, I chose breathable, sweat-wicking inner wear. Although the convention was packed, requiring constant environmental awareness, walking around in such an iconic outfit felt fantastic. The white fabric ribbons on the ring and the golden buttons on the clothing were fine details needing frequent tidying. In my view, the fidelity of this hair, makeup, and costume was already very high—apart from a little sweat dampening the collar, the overall condition held up wonderfully. Synergy with the photographer on site was seamless, eliminating the need for exaggerated expressions since capturing relaxed, natural moments makes for the best photos. Bringing Tomimi to life at the convention was a fulfilling cosplay experience, providing fresh insights into handling oversized props.
