Shooting these Cosplay convention photos for Vina Victoria cosplay, the biggest challenge was the sheer weight of the gear and collision issues while moving around, which turned out far more troublesome than anticipated. Moving in the full outfit for the first time, the heavy sword and scepter made me momentarily doubt whether I could even walk smoothly to the shooting spot. Especially with that sword—its length and weight were exaggerated; without repeated practice, swinging motions easily looked like dragging a mop. When raising the scepter aloft, because the headpiece and animal ears took up so much space, tilting my head slightly risked snagging on the prop. Clumsy walking and the clattering sounds of clashing props echoed throughout the shoot—definitely not something just anyone can easily handle.
Speaking of character recreation for this look: the original design carries a rich royal and noble elegance. To match the character as closely as possible, the entire armor utilized extensive gold relief embellishments with meticulous detailing. The strappy chest design paired with black leather textures accentuated body curves. For the lower half, over-the-knee boots paired with Black fishnet stockings looked fantastic under strong studio and convention lighting; however, breathability was minimal, leaving me drenched in sweat under the heavy armor. The red, blue, and gold crest on the shoulders looked exceptionally regal and weighted under the lights.
For makeup, to ensure crisp clarity in convention photos, I applied relatively defined eye makeup paired with golden-yellow colored contacts to enhance the character's subtly intimidating demeanor. The blonde hair, animal ears, and spiked halo headpiece produced stunning light transmission in backlit conditions. The photographer's lighting setup was phenomenal, fully elevating the sacred and majestic atmosphere.
To find a great angle showcasing commanding presence, I opted for seated or semi-crouching postures, allowing better extension of the legs to display the tall boots and Black fishnet stockings. Although the heavy props made my arms tremble while posing, creating on-site clumsiness where I nearly tripped over the massive blue cape behind me, seeing the final photos made all previous exhaustion and toil vanish into thin air. Striving so hard to bring a beloved character to life is a true joy in itself. I was practically exhausted after wrapping up and had to rest on the sidelines for a long time to recover, but looking back at these photos, pushing through to nail each pose was the right decision—everything was completely worth it for this Arknights Sword and Kingship cosplay.
