[Lin Yuxia cosplay] Arknights: Rat on the Move, Eating BBQ Pork Buns at an Open-air food stall

Inspired by the viral news meme of a rat munching on a BBQ pork bun that made waves recently, this photoshoot of Lin Yuxia eating buns at an Open-air food stall was set in motion. Everyone jokes "Miss Lin, please stop eating," and since this dark Chinese-style outfit matched the retro food stall vibe perfectly, we seized the opportunity to tackle this Meme cosplay theme.

Scouting the location took considerable effort—we found an authentic old-school Open-air food stall with massive bamboo steamers and strong lighting contrast. The wooden round tables and red plastic stools fit the gritty street ambiance perfectly, while the kitchen aroma in the air added genuine warmth to the frames. To complement this atmosphere, the costume featured a dark Chinese stand-collar coat to keep overall luminance low in dim light, emphasizing the textures of the face, hands, and buns. The long pink hair and white plush animal ears stood out brightly against the dark palette, delivering striking visual contrast that resonated with the character's agile presence.

In terms of makeup and styling, eye contours were deliberately emphasized to convey that alert, slightly impatient look of eating while staying on guard. The trickiest part during shooting was the action of eating the bun. To align with the meme, we bought a fresh steamer of oversized BBQ pork buns. But freshly steamed buns were scalding hot, yet I had to hold chopsticks elegantly without breaking character expressions—practically very difficult. To nail the feel, I repeatedly rewatched clips of rodents nibbling food to study that semi-curled posture, spending ages just adjusting my balance while half-sitting on the stool.

The photographer used a telephoto lens to capture intimate details, which, paired with the on-site side-backlighting, vividly outlined the rising steam from the buns. Because the buns were so soft and easily deformed if held poorly, we were forced to swap in several prop buns halfway through to get perfect bite marks. When adjusting the animal ears and wig, the cramped food stall space caused long hair strands to constantly snag on tables, and the breeze from a nearby fan kept tangling them.

While the character's lore sets her up as an imposing, formidable mob boss, placing her in this specific setting with the meme created a delightfully comical contrast. The photoshoot felt genuinely like enjoying a late-night supper—by the end, I was truly stuffed. Through these photos, I hope to showcase Lin Yuxia's lesser-known, down-to-earth Casual cosplay side in daily life. Without glamorous studio sets, the authentic street flavor combined with meticulous attention to detail made this roleplaying journey incredibly fun. Packing up to leave with the scent of soy sauce and cooking oil lingering on me was the most genuine souvenir of this shoot.
