This Halloween, we've arranged an Identity V and Tomie Kawakami collaboration cosplay for everyone. The core concept of this photo shoot was to capture that atmosphere of being both elegant and creepily dangerous. To match the holiday tone, we chose a vintage studio with dark red velvet curtains and black-and-white checkered floor tiles, complemented by intricate gold-carved furniture; the collision of red and black created an extremely strong visual impact.
In terms of makeup, it was built according to the character design of Identity V, with the focus on that morbid doll-like feel. The base makeup was kept very white, with a large area of red eyeshadow blended around the eyes, and tear-stain details resembling bloody tears drawn under the eyes. Paired with heavy straight-cut bangs and a long straight black wig, that chilling, frozen gaze immediately came through. To increase the multi-faceted nature of the character, I deliberately shot a set of photos with a mirror reflection in the same frame. Actually, the trick for the two expressions in photo 3 is very simple: control your facial muscles in front of the mirror, keep the half of the face close to the camera looking cold and ruthless, and let the half reflected in the mirror give a slight smirk, which can create a split, eerie theatrical effect. You can all try it at home with a mirror and you'll see.
For clothing, we chose a classic black suit jacket paired with a white shirt and pleated skirt, accented with a red tie in the photos, and wearing white stockings and black glossy small leather shoes on the feet. Sitting on that dark red vintage leather sofa, the crossed-leg posture perfectly showcased the texture of the white stockings, matching the overall dark gothic style with a touch of light sexiness and languidness. The long-handled props in hand, as well as the revolver and katana on the table, are safe plastic cosplay props, which are very handy to use for posing during shooting and have absolutely no adverse effects, so the reviewers can rest assured.
The entire shooting process was actually quite tiring. Actions like lying on the table or kneeling on one knee with the katana in photos 4 and 5 required staying still for a long time to maintain the dynamic feel of falling long hair and limb balance. The photographer beside me kept adjusting the lighting angles, and even the reflector umbrella directly entered the frame. At that time, all I had in my mind was how to swing the green-handled katana in my hand with more imposing aura, making the gaze sharp and the posture as tense and powerful as a cheetah.
Let's treat this set of photos as an early warm-up for the upcoming Halloween, maximizing the dark-style uniform temptation and yandere vibe. I'll try more interesting settings in the future, and everyone can also make more use of props and mirrors at hand during daily posing to increase the richness of the picture.
