[Elysia Cosplay] Pink and Purple Interwoven Dream: Recreating the Ethereal Moments of Herrscher of Human: Ego - Elysia in Honkai Impact 3rd

For this shoot, we settled on the theme of Herrscher of Human: Ego - Elysia from Honkai Impact 3rd, and today I'm sharing some set construction insights and shooting thoughts from the final photos.

Regarding the makeup and styling for this form, the challenge lay not in the complexity of the outfit, but in conveying that "airy, ethereal elf aesthetic." The pink wig was custom-made, trimmed into light medium-length strands that, paired with straight bangs, accentuated the softness of facial features. The elf ear prosthetics were fixed onto the ear auricles beforehand with skin-safe adhesive and blended along the edges with foundation so they wouldn't look jarring on camera. The skirt on the lower half featured multi-layered tulle, providing rich dimensional movement while walking. The wide purple waistband and the oversized bow on the back were essential keys—injecting sharp color contrast into the pale pink base so the composition wouldn't feel overly washed out.

The practical set was built in the studio well in advance over a long session. We primarily used Roman columns, elevated steps, and an abundance of cascading purple and white sheer drapes. The arrangement of these drapes was crucial—if hung too densely, they would feel heavy, so we deliberately left gaps allowing the light to filter through. For props, the hydrangea bouquet in my hands was custom-ordered in advance with interwoven pink, purple, and white tones. We also arranged several white dove props across the studio—some stationary, and some suspended with thin wire during the shoot to simulate flight postures.

During shooting on set, the photographer reminded me to avoid stiff, static standing poses. Because the skirt is so voluminous, actions like raising a leg or glancing back allowed the dress silhouette to flare naturally. I referenced some divine poses from official art but adapted them with subtle ergonomic tweaks—such as dropping my shoulders when holding the bouquet with both hands to visually elongate the neckline. Another highly photogenic pose was turning sideways with a backward glance, letting my arms drape naturally; this fully revealed the White stockings and high heels while complementing the upper-body lines, making it one of my favorite compositional angles.

For lighting, we used expansive, powerful backlight; the light source behind penetrated the sheer drapes to form a hazy, luminous halo. This lighting scheme cast a gorgeous rim light along the edges of my hair, which, combined with the pink flower petals scattered across the floor, gave the frames an intensely dreamy feel.

In post-processing, we unified colors according to our pre-production plan, primarily shifting the deep purple background toward a brighter lavender hue so the character remained in a crisp, luminous color space. We avoided excessive skin-smoothing to preserve the three-dimensional contours of facial features. For highlight areas on the skirt and drapes, we slightly compressed highlights to prevent blown-out clipping and lost details. Overall, from initial set building to final color grading, this Honkai Impact 3rd Elysia Cosplay photoshoot went smoothly with rich immersion.
