Shooting outdoors with this 500-yuan fisheye lens for the first time, the final photos actually exceeded my expectations. The exaggerated sense of perspective brought by the wide-angle instantly added a sci-fi and anime filter to what would otherwise be a very ordinary street or underground space. However, a fisheye lens is definitely a tool that requires gradual adaptation; if you lose control over the character's position in the frame even slightly, comical stretching occurs at the edges, making it easy to accidentally become a meme generator.
This shoot was mainly completed at the Super Tube Station in the Dreamcore park photoshoot, an environment that naturally carries a strong sense of geometry and color contrast. Those cylindrical props glowing with orange-red light, coupled with the interlocking wooden ceiling structure overhead, were an absolute perfect match for this red-and-black themed costume and the dark long-handled umbrella. Especially when squatting down to hold the umbrella or stepping directly onto the glowing cylinders, the lens utilized in fisheye photography can capture all the surrounding radial lines and deep light and shadow into the frame, beautifully creating that underground cyberpunk vibe. In terms of prop recreation, the dark long-handled umbrella, the bowtie with a cross-star pattern, and the toy gun with charms all formed a strong connection with the wig and eye makeup. However, because the on-site lighting was quite dim, most of the light sources came from the red barrel-shaped lamps and the reflections from the yellow railings. This put a certain demand on the camera's metering and highlight suppression; even slight overexposure would make the red color look too dull.
As for cosplay pose sharing based on my experience during the actual shoot, my biggest takeaway was that 'the range of motion must be increased.' The rather exaggerated perspective of the fisheye lens makes conventional standing poses look exceptionally flat and distorted. Therefore, one must coordinate movements like lifting the head, tilting the head, dramatic squats with high-to-low drops, and jumping sensations to unleash the character's lively energy as much as possible. For instance, in the photo where I'm walking forward with the umbrella, or walking on the yellow overpass at night, although the railings are heavily stretched and distorted, it strangely fits the character's hazardous and dangerous vibe.
To sum it up, this 500-yuan lens offers incredible value for money and gave me a very fresh shooting experience. Although mastering the composition and positioning will still take plenty of time, this can absolutely be considered an attempt full of surprises.
