Preparing for this outdoor shoot took about half a month, with most of the effort dedicated to contrasting fabric textures and weathering the props. To capture that heavy yet sacred style characteristic of Kjerag's snowscapes, the inner turtleneck sweater was chosen in a thick, windproof knit, while the outer white robe was crafted from a cotton-linen blend with a graceful drape, enriched by fringed tassels and embroidered geometric patterns along the hem to give the outfit strong dimensional layers. The heaviest component was the black cape with plush faux-fur trim across my shoulders, along with the thick fur throw laid over my lap; while it looked incredibly cozy, wearing it and moving around under the sun actually made the felt temperature quite sweltering. The bell prop in my hands was specifically sourced in solid metal, giving it a satisfying heft, and once tied with a blue satin ribbon, it swayed with my movements to produce a crisp, melodic chime.
The shoot was scheduled for around 4:00 PM, a window that represents classic golden hour lighting. Backlighting performs wonders for the texture of makeup and hair strands, beautifully catching the rim light along the contours of the wig. However, because direct sunlight was quite glaring, I kept my eyes slightly closed or cast my gaze gently downward most of the time, which naturally conveyed a serene, contemplative presence on camera. The wig was pre-trimmed and braided in advance; securing the twin braids alongside the animal-ear headband at the crown required dozens of bobby pins to keep them from shifting while walking outdoors. The beaded forehead pendant caught tiny specks of light under the sun, adding a delicate touch to the darker headwear ensemble.
In terms of posing, sitting on the railing—even with the fur throw as padding—required keeping my core engaged to maintain balance and prevent my posture from slumping. The leg-lifting pose was guided by the photographer to better accentuate the lines of my legs and showcase the coordination of boots with stockings. I wore over-the-knee stockings featuring geometric patterns, where the plush cuff trim subtly echoed the waist belt and the furry accents of the robe. The chunky black platform boots were well-suited for outdoor terrain while adding grounded weight to the lower half, preventing the silhouette from feeling top-heavy. Because the skirt features a high slit, pairing it with the over-the-knee stockings allowed freedom of movement while visually elongating my body proportions.
Throughout the shoot, the ambient wind was fairly strong, frequently disheveling my hair and cape, meaning I had to reset stray strands and reposition the cloak after almost every angle. The urban buildings and high-voltage transmission towers in the background stood silhouetted against the sunset glow; though differing from the canonical frozen tundra, this ruined landscape and warm yellow color palette lent the images an alternative narrative charm. This convention set primarily served to test the garment's dynamic motion and its visual performance under varying light. In post-processing, the shadows were slightly suppressed while the highlights were lifted to preserve the warm texture of the sunlight. The final shots fundamentally met our initial vision while revealing minor wearing adjustments to address; for the full photoset in the future, I will fine-tune the weathered details of the props and the natural flow of the wig.
