[Rem cosplay] Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-: Refreshing Sailor Suit by the Summer Pool

An outdoor Pool photoshoot in midsummer is truly a double trial of stamina and mindset. To capture the full charm of this sailor-suit Swimsuit, the pre-production groundwork demanded meticulous effort. From styling and trimming the wig to testing makeup longevity under humidity, not a single detail could be overlooked. Sky-blue short hair easily glares under bright sunlight, so I pre-treated it with matte styling products to ensure it wouldn't frizz when dipping into water or catching gusts of wind. For cosmetics, to honor the character's traits, I deepened the contours around my bright blue contact lenses and swept generous petal-pink blush across my cheeks, preserving healthy, radiant flush even under intense sunlight. The ensemble features a semi-translucent mesh sailor collar top paired with a pleated skirt; to enrich visual layers, I coordinated over-the-knee White Stockings, whose blue twin stripes at the cuffs echoed the garment flawlessly. However, strolling along the poolside in white stockings required extreme caution to avoid scuffing against abrasive pool coping or picking up dusty grime.

Once in the water, the greatest hurdle was not water temperature, but the physical drag of moving through liquid resistance. I brought several props to enrich visual storytelling: the oversized white inflatable float and the blue-and-white ring buoy served not only as striking scenic elements, but also as indispensable balance anchors in the pool. Leaning over the float or resting beside the ledge while cradling it allowed my limbs to relax into organic postures. The true surprise was the faux-wood inflatable paddleboard, which injected dynamic athleticism into the gallery. Kneeling or sitting atop the board framed distant urban architecture in the backdrop, cultivating a breezy summer resort ambiance. To freeze shimmering water caustics, the photographer directed me to stand by the edge or lean against white pillars, utilizing the turquoise pool reflections to illuminate my face. This fusion of ambient daylight and aquatic fill light rendered skin textures gorgeously translucent.

Maintaining poise and expression in the pool proved to be the most physically exhausting aspect. Standing submerged for even brief intervals reveals persistent water resistance and slippery tiles; keeping knees straight and posture upright required non-stop core engagement. Furthermore, direct sunlight naturally induces squinting, demanding seasoned camera awareness to instantly snap wide, engaging eyes the moment the shutter fired. During breaks, I continuously blotted water droplets from my hair and skin with tissues, reapplying sunscreen and powder to prevent patchiness. Despite inflatable props providing buoyant support, keeping buoyant balance while projecting effortless, breezy serenity took tremendous physical exertion.

We shot continuously from early morning into the afternoon as the light shifted from soft morning glow to sharp direct glare, transforming water tones in real time. The turquoise basin, pristine white floats, pale blue hair, and white Stockings combined to form a visually cooling, refreshing palette. Although summer outdoors is sweltering and water scenes drain stamina rapidly, witnessing the final interlocked caustics—along with the subtle dewiness clinging to the skirt and stockings—made every ounce of effort profoundly fulfilling. Far more than controlled studio strobes, I cherish the spontaneous vibrancy of natural outdoor light, and look forward to unlocking even more refreshing aquatic aesthetics in future shoots.
