The opportunity to shoot this set of photos actually came quite suddenly, but the idea of wanting to present this specific state had always been very clear. Upon getting this dark blue and white-gold toned costume, my first instinct was to capture that half-awake, half-asleep atmosphere that nonetheless carries an inherent sense of control. To restore that hazy and dazed gaze, I specially adjusted my sleep schedule the night before the shoot, hoping to present a subtle state between wide awake and deep drowsiness.

During the shoot, the layering of this costume was much richer than imagined. The off-the-shoulder cut paired with wide cuffs, along with the long trailing hem at the back, forms a great dynamic visual effect when walking and turning around. However, wearing it to strike various complex poses, especially with that pair of fluffy beast ears and a huge fluffy tail, was quite a test of body balance. The golden embellishments on the headpiece, neckline, and waist showcased a brilliant texture after lighting, forming a wonderful color balance with the dark blue base fabric.

The set design for this collaboration was incredibly supportive, preparing large folding screens featuring cranes, Mount Fuji, and cherry blossoms, which paired with warm yellow floor paper lanterns to set a highly comfortable tone for the initial shoot. The red maple leaves, reeds, and oil-paper umbrella on the ground also added an autumn-exclusive texture to the frame. Many seemingly casual, lazy movements actually required highly precise expression control behind them. For instance, the sharpness when gripping the blade, the playfulness when holding the white fox mask, and the mysterious aura when touching the skull prop all needed to convey subtle emotional contrasts depending on the prop. This contrast is precisely the most attractive part of the character—possessing both a gentle, graceful side and that unpredictable, unique aura. Documenting these subtle updates is always a fulfilling part of my Coser daily life.

Aside from restoring the physical look, I also poured more energy into pondering the gaze and body language, trying to minimize traces of forced posing as much as possible. Fortunately, the texture ultimately presented in this set of photos indeed created that dreamlike atmosphere that makes one want to indulge in it. Overall, this was a shooting experience full of surprises for this piece of Anime cosplay and Japanese-style photography from Azur Lane.
