[Stocking Cosplay] Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt Confession Moment: Did You Spot the Small Weapon Detail?

This set of Stocking cosplay from Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt is finally edited and released, exactly two months after the shooting day. At the time, I took on a marathon-style shoot, changing four outfits in a single day from morning till night. Honestly, toward the end, I felt like my soul was being purified—the photographer said looking at my state, it felt as if I could grow real wings and fly away at any moment. But the moment I saw the final photos, I felt all the hard work was completely worth it.

For this shoot, I mainly wanted to highlight Stocking's unique temperament that blends sweetness with rebellion. Therefore, the outfit specifically incorporated plenty of airy ruffles and translucent tulle, combined with small feather wings on the back, creating a dreamlike angel costume aesthetic. However, the props retained the crisp cartoon geometric lines of her weapon; the blue-and-white striped blade paired beautifully with the blue-purple studio background. Speaking of this sword, there's a very fun little detail—in the original anime, Stocking's weapon actually transforms from a lollipop. Our prop artist crafted a hidden swivel structure at the base of the hilt. Although it might not be clearly visible in the photos, handling it on set felt incredibly true to the original, which definitely deserves a shoutout for the prop maker.

As for styling, I tried light blue contact lenses and a wig with pinkish-purple highlights this time, paired with a stocking outfit featuring blue-and-white over-the-knee socks and silver high-heeled sandals, resulting in a fresh color palette with a hint of fluorescence. Multiple angles were explored during shooting—for instance, the single-leg standing shot was actually designed to display the stretched stripe texture of the stockings and the flowing motion of the skirt, while the seated posture holding the sword conveyed a more composed vibe. The photographer handled light and shadow expertly; the cool ambient lighting made the white clothing look clean and translucent without excessive editing, retaining a realistic skin texture.

Honestly, the hardest part of cosplay shooting isn't striking poses, but maintaining natural interaction while wearing intricate clothing and high heels. The heels on these shoes were very tall, plus I constantly had to adjust the wings' positioning. After four sets in a day, my ankles and shoulders were nearly numb from strain. However, seeing everyone enjoy this set makes all the extreme schedule fatigue worthwhile. During retouching, liquifying was kept to a minimum to preserve natural bone structures and proportions, because Stocking herself is a tall and vibrant character, and over-slimming would actually ruin that sense of strength.

Finally, regarding the little easter egg on the weapon: the prop maker specifically painted the hilt with a shimmering pearlescent glitter that casts a blue shine matching the skirt at certain angles. This detail is tough to capture under conventional lighting, but in person, it is truly beautiful. This shoot was a challenge to my physical endurance and makeup execution. Being able to transition through four different characters within limited time wouldn't have been possible without full support from the photographer and logistics crew. I hope this dedication to character details reaches everyone who views these photos.
