[Lexington II Cosplay] Sailing Record with the Port Commander at Guangzhou Firefly ACG Expo

At the Azur Lane themed area of Guangzhou Firefly ACG Expo, I was finally able to meet fellow Commanders offline as Lexington II. This shoot centered mainly around the venue's stage area, utilizing the on-site ambient lighting and interactive props.

First, let's talk about the costume and props. The most striking element of this styling is the layered halo headpiece; the actual piece required a huge amount of effort to balance weight and anchor points. The framework was crafted with layered metal and acrylic. I made sure to test and adjust the center of gravity multiple times beforehand so it wouldn't wobble easily while navigating the crowded convention hall. The main body of the dress was made of a lustrous bright blue satin, which creates gorgeous highlight reflections under stage spotlights. Paired with the white floral corsage at the front waist and matching bows, the silhouette gains distinct three-dimensionality and layering. The sheer white outer shawl is the true soul of the outfit—any slight breeze or arm movement during shooting caused the light fabric to rise into remarkably graceful curves.

Specific adjustments were also made for hair and makeup. Because the convention hall featured predominantly warm lighting that easily washes out foundation details, I chose a matte, high-coverage base. For eyeshadow, I selected reddish-brown tones leaning toward pink, applying multi-layered blending for depth while highlighting the aegyo sal to ensure the makeup remained crisp and radiant under warm spotlights. The wig was a long straight light peach-pink, styled with a soft inward curl at the ends; before wearing it, the roots at the crown were thinned and lifted to prevent an overly bulky appearance. The collar was crafted from black leather accented with a square metal buckle, adding a nice contrasting touch against the overall gentle pink-and-white theme.

The shooting process was also a lot of fun. The event set design was very atmospheric, and the giant yellow mascot model not only added playfulness to the frame but also served as a wonderful interactive prop. For this shoot, I focused on two perspectives: first, the dynamic standing snapshots in photo 1, where the photographer precisely captured the moment the gauze billowed, using a wide-angle lens to visually elongate leg lines; second, the side-seated angles shown in photos 2 and 3, where sitting on the step edge displayed the cascading skirt while naturally crossed legs showcased leg details and the blue garter strap. The dark navy bottom paired with navy high heels and the subtle sheer sheen of the Stocking outfit nicely extended visual proportions under the warm lighting.

The actual conditions of the convention were indeed quite challenging for shooting. The dense crowd meant passersby and event materials constantly entered the background. Fortunately, the photographer handled it with great skill, utilizing wide apertures and longer focal lengths to blur out cluttered stage trusses and railings, leaving only soft, warm yellow bokeh. The entire convention experience was deeply fulfilling; meeting so many players sharing a passion for the same game felt incredibly warm. From morning hair and makeup to afternoon shooting, wearing the heavy headpiece and heels all day took a physical toll, but connecting with fellow fans on-site and feeling the enthusiasm of the port Commanders made this offline journey truly worthwhile. This shoot was both a tribute to Lexington II and a personal test of my convention photography execution. I hope to return in even better form next time to share more wonderful cosplay creations.
