Slipping into this Chen Hai Retrofit look and standing before an antique wooden background, I was genuinely filled with anticipation for this distinct Dragon Empery style. As a highly representative character in the Dragon Empery faction, her design blends traditional gentle elegance with the sharp, valiant edge of modern rigging. This balance of softness and strength offered plenty of creative room during the shoot, making it the most fascinating part of this cosplay experience for me.

Let's start with the details of this outfit. The tailoring is remarkably refined: the sleeveless off-the-shoulder design in black and white, paired with a white-based square badge featuring a blue jewel, delivers an exceptionally solid texture. The biggest visual highlight, of course, is the lower half. The combination of black stockings with a high-slit skirt, along with the black leg straps around the thighs, really tests the model's body control, yet it is undeniably the most captivating part of the entire look. The black gloves anchor the overall color weight of the image, keeping the visual focus solidly on the character. To stay true to her look, I specifically styled a short black wig complemented by a white feather hair accessory, aiming to replicate her serene, composed shipgirl aura through both makeup and hairstyle.

During the shoot, I tried to break away from stiff standing poses by sitting cross-legged or side-sitting to blend into the scene. For example, reclining beside a wooden box with my elbow supporting my weight, combined with the long black gloves, allowed the character to project a confident, calm sharpness even in a static image.

In the photos, I didn't need to deliberately project an aggressive look; instead, a demeanor combining gentleness with a hint of sharpness better suits her calm composure and poise after weathering life's vicissitudes. During the shoot, keeping my gaze slightly relaxed yet focused helped convey this strength through subtle expressions.

In terms of lighting, the setup this time was very flattering. The main warm light sources came from the lantern on the floor and the paper lantern beside it. This soft, low-color-temperature light avoided looking harsh on the face, creating a natural glow on the skin instead. The contrast of light highlighted the texture of the black stockings while forming smooth transitions between light and shadow on details like the shoulder straps, giving the flat photos a 3D breathing feel. To maintain peak condition, I had to hold fixed poses for long periods and repeatedly adjust angles with the photographer, but seeing the final visual effect woven from classical and modern elements made all the effort worthwhile.
