The first batch of Convention photos from Nanning Anime Convention Summer Festival D2 has finally been edited and released. This outfit required quite a bit of work; just navigating the venue with the layered ruffle hat and the skirt's support structure meant trying my best to avoid congested crowds. Fortunately, the exaggerated upper-to-lower body proportions of this design make it easy to get striking shots in slightly open spaces, especially when using a wide aperture to blur the venue's ceiling lights in the background, creating a very transparent and airy atmosphere.
To match the lightweight vibe of this outfit, I specifically chose poses with significant shifts in center of gravity, such as high leg lifts or semi-seated positions. These poses require good leg flexibility and core strength, which is why I particularly hoped to find a Cosplay collaboration (TFP) partner with solid physical fitness when posting. Running back and forth across the venue under the blazing sun that day to find different lighting angles and environments was exhausting, but seeing the resulting photos made it all worthwhile. The Event photo delivery time will indeed be somewhat longer, as I am currently self-teaching post-production compositing techniques to give the splashing red liquid VFX and surrounding rim lighting more texture. Therefore, I really need a partner who can accept a slower pace and wait patiently for the finished edits.
Regarding Cosplay collaboration (TFP) shoots, I personally place great value on mutual understanding and respect. Being late or standing someone up really disrupts the mood of the day, as convention time is tight; scheduling a time is meant to capture great shots under optimal lighting conditions and in the best locations. If you cannot accept a longer wait for Event photo delivery, or just want to quickly take two photos and leave, you might not fit my rhythm. I prefer taking the time to coordinate poses, discussing composition together, and pushing a concept to its fullest potential.
These Convention photos also revealed some areas for improvement, such as finding the balance between prop mounting methods and the flowing drape of the skirt. The texture of my outfit emphasizes layering, and the mix of pink and white easily creates a refined aesthetic under mixed natural and indoor lighting. Therefore, in post-production, my focus was on color harmony and reshaping local lighting, especially for the handheld sphere prop and trailing fragments, which required compositing to enhance dynamic motion.

Finally, a quick note on the preparation process. Getting up early for hair and makeup on the convention day was physically demanding—especially wearing a Pink dress with such a voluminous skirt, where every step required caution to avoid getting stepped on or caught on equipment stands. When posing, I usually stabilize my core first, lightly spin using the skirt's weight, and let the photographer capture the moment the skirt flares up. This compensates for movement limitations while visually elongating the lower body for a pleasing aesthetic.
I have always believed that high-quality Convention photos are not about shooting fast, but about patience and aesthetic alignment. For my next set, I want to try a tougher, more striking style, and I am currently preparing the props and costume.
