The character Corin from Zenless Zone Zero naturally has a strong gap-moe charm—looking like an obedient, sweet maid on the outside, yet wielding a giant chainsaw weapon and carrying a patched-up teddy bear on her back. For this Corin cosplay, most of the prep time was spent refining the cosplay props and costume details.
First, looking at the outfit, it features an overall black, white, and blue color palette. The nurse-style maid cap is overlaid with a grid mesh texture, flanked on both sides by giant black button accents. The tricky part of this styling was ensuring the twin-tails could drape naturally without being blocked by the cap. The dress itself blends fabric and faux leather patchwork; the white apron features distinct green dotted stitching, and multiple layered pleats with white lace adorn the hem. The chains and metal clasps across the waist and skirt make this outfit significantly heavier than a standard dress, and the clinking of chains while walking adds a great rhythm. Paired with black leather sleeves and straps on the arms, the mechanical and Gothic maid dark aesthetic is instantly established. The strapped knee braces and chunky black combat boots on the legs form another visual focal point, simultaneously elongating leg proportions and boosting a tough, stylish aura.
The real challenge this time lay in the cosplay props. The giant chainsaw weapon has a very long shaft, requiring not only physical strength to hold but also great balance, as the center of gravity sits high, putting immense strain on the wrist when held single-handedly. The weapon body features a bold black, green, and white paint scheme, with the sharp cutting edge of the circular saw rendered realistically, and the hanging charms at the bottom faithfully recreating the original design. Additionally, the teddy bear on my back was a huge eye-catcher—its eyes and mouth are stitched into crosses with black thread, and the cross patch on its chest was carefully custom-ordered from a maker. Carrying both the bear and the chainsaw around the convention floor was a real workout, but for the sake of quality convention photos, all these preparations were essential.
These photos were captured on-site at the anime con by photographer Brother Ji, set against a cluster of classical European-style white buildings. The clean, light backdrop of white stone pillars, carved railings, and arched windows proved perfect for highlighting Corin's cool-toned aesthetic, instantly making the subject pop. Natural lighting was abundant on the day of the shoot. In composing each shot, Brother Ji paid close attention to integrating the props with my posing—such as having me crouch or sit on the steps to create height dynamics, pose standing while wielding the weapon, or hold the teddy bear to my chest, with every angle beautifully showcasing the costume's design details. In particular, the seated shot where I hold onto the shoulder straps, paired with the extension of my legs and black boots, perfectly recreated the character's subtle nuance of being slightly timid yet possessing explosive combat power.
The entire process of doing makeup, styling the wig, and adjusting the eye look also took considerable effort. The mint-green wig color is vibrant, creating gorgeous layered hair strands under the sunlight. Being recognized and interacting with many fellow fans at the convention, and seeing everyone's appreciation for this look, really melted away the fatigue of carrying heavy props. Recreating a character with heavy weaponry demands huge effort in advance prep and physical stamina on-site, but having final photos that bring out both the character's soul and the garment's texture makes it all worth it. Huge thanks to Brother Ji for patiently guiding the poses and finding angles. This photo set delivered strong visual tension for the Gothic maid aesthetic, visually realizing the striking contrast of a maid with a chainsaw in these convention photos.
