For this Christmas project, the shoot theme was Daiwa Scarlet from Umamusume: Pretty Derby. Putting on the red-and-black tartan plaid skirt with its white plush-trimmed collar instantly brought out the holiday spirit. The paired black stockings and white over-the-knee boots photographed amazingly under the hotel's warm spotlights, cleanly defining leg lines while creating rich visual contrast against the red dress.
The shoot was located in a 5-star hotel's Christmas setup, where the lights shining on the bauble-decorated Christmas tree added a warm, glowing halo to the frame. The first photo is a medium full-body shot: I sat sideways on a white faux-fur blanket with my legs slightly bent, naturally displaying the transition between the black stockings and boots while preventing wrinkles from being pressed into the structured skirt hem. Holding the green gift box tied with a red ribbon as a prop and looking toward the lens, the photographer captured my slightly mischievous expression. For this shot, I adjusted my sitting position over ten times because the plush rug was slippery, and I had to mind the highlight glint on the stockings to ensure the texture showed properly under the lighting.
The second photo is a close-up where I leaned forward and reached out for the gift box. This angle nicely highlights the details of the chest bow tie and white fur trim. To amplify the visual impact of an attention seeker, I specifically chose enlarging reddish-brown contact lenses to match the vibrant red hair, looking energetic and spirited. For the makeup, dusting red blush under the eyes and pairing it with a reddish-brown lipstick harmonized well with the outfit's color palette, softening facial expressions. The tricky part of styling was the red-and-white bunny ears—because the base of the ears is narrow, they had to be firmly secured with bobby pins to keep from wobbling during poses. The red wig was also given extra volume, adding richer depth when looking down at the gift box.
The material of this red plaid skirt is quite structured and looks fantastic when standing, but once sitting or bending over, the hem tends to bunch up, requiring adjustments every few poses during the shoot. To get these satisfying shots, we spent the whole afternoon working on it while dodging crowds of passersby. The color contrast between cool and warm lighting gave the entire scene a rich Christmas ceremony feel, making this a joyful experience of being an attention seeker.
As for the outfit's warmth, it is actually quite poor. Even though the indoor heating was running well, pausing between shots still felt chilly, so I had to keep pacing back and forth to stay warmed up. Wearing the bunny ear headpiece with bright red hair beside the Christmas tree, passing guests couldn't help but take a few extra glances—which was exactly the attention seeker effect I was hoping for.
