[Sun Shangxiang cosplay] Honor of Kings: The Jiangdong Squad Strikes!

Jiangdong Squad, strike! At this convention, we finally brought the three Sun siblings together. I took on Sun Shangxiang cosplay, @瑟鬼啊啊 cosplayed Sun Ce, and @玻色子 cosplayed Sun Quan.

First, let's talk about my gear. The yellow-and-green minidress features a traditional Chinese stand collar and frog closures, which look exceptionally striking visually, with delicate cloud motifs on the skirt. The green bow headpieces paired with the twin-tail wig gave the look a vibrant, spunky character. However, to support the skirt's flare, I wore a petticoat underneath, and combined with the heavy golden gauntlets on my arms, movement was slightly restricted. The metallic waist accessories and belt needed to be fastened quite tightly to prevent them from snapping open during dramatic poses.

What took the most effort was the golden heavy weapon in my hands. The prop was crafted from a combination of EVA foam and PVC pipes; building the central disc mechanism was particularly time-consuming. Coated in gold metallic paint, every slight bump made my heart ache. In the second photo kneeling on one knee, I dragged this heavy hammer with one hand—my center of gravity was actually rock solid, with leg muscles actively flexing. Paired with high-heeled over-the-knee boots, black strapping, and details across the thighs, shooting from a low angle visually elongated the legs dramatically, instantly unleashing an overwhelming sense of combat intensity. Walking in these high-heeled boots across the venue all day left the soles of my feet aching, but seeing the combination of Stockings and tall boots in the final shots made the pain totally worth it.

The standing group shots in Photos 1 and 3 also required plenty of coordination. Sun Ce wore a sleeveless combat outfit in red, orange, and black, topped with fiery red hair and a golden forehead protector, projecting immense presence; Sun Quan wore a blue-and-white robe with a fur collar, wielding a staff bearing a massive blue banner, exuding natural leadership. Standing together, our costumes created striking color contrast. To keep the compositions dynamic, we worked out varied stances and gestures: in Photo 1, I stood on the left hoisting the heavy hammer with one hand, while in Photo 3, the three of us lined up shoulder-to-shoulder, radiating confidence before battle.

Photographer @Demacia was incredible at capturing candids; under his lens, the convention ceiling lights and trusses transformed into a sleek, sci-fi-esque backdrop. To nail the low-angle diagonal composition in Photo 2, he practically laid flat on the floor at an extreme low angle. The three of us held striking, dynamic poses take after take, with chains, the staff, and the heavy hammer arranged to bring visual equilibrium to the frame.

The entire shoot was a serious endurance test. Between the long wig, heavy costumes, and the hot, crowded venue, we had to seize every pocket of quiet when crowds thinned out. To ensure image clarity, the photographer set up professional lighting gear, while we continually refined our expressions and postures to embody the fierce, decisive aura of the Jiangdong Squad. Behind each picture were countless adjustments and makeup touch-ups. Though exhausting, completing the trio of the Sun siblings with two amazing partners and producing such visually impactful results was immensely satisfying. Preparing for our next series now—hoping to keep up this level of quality!
