[Sunna Cosplay] Zenless Zone Zero — KFC Collaboration Check-in Day with Friends

Today, a few friends and I met up offline to shoot this set of Zenless Zone Zero group cosplay photos. Since it was during the KFC collaboration period, the decorative vibe both inside and outside the store was absolutely perfect for checking in, so we booked our schedule early and headed straight to the venue packed with gear.

The shoot that day was truly a test of patience for us. We cosplayed characters with intricate designs, especially for the close-up perspective in the first photo, which required lying down or half-squatting to find angles. We shot repeatedly before catching that magic moment where everyone naturally looked toward the camera. While the final photos might look effortless, during shooting, everyone's arms were aching from holding up and adjusting wigs continuously.

In particular, my friend with light green hair incorporated a clever sunglasses pairing: adorable heart-eyed sunglasses pushed up onto her head as an accessory, which complemented her wig styling with vibrant energy. Her choker featured a small yellow bell and a red bow knot; though a tiny detail, we actually inserted a rigid shim inside to keep it upright without tilting. We joked at the time whether walking around with ringing bells would make passersby mistake it for a pet collar.

The one playing the pink-haired twin-tail character had the most hair accessories. Beyond the iconic red ribbon bows, there were white wing-shaped ornaments on both sides and a streak of light blue highlights. Her halter top featured a clever neckline resembling ruffles but crafted from stiffer material. Since this collar easily deformed during dynamic arm movements, during two-person shots we both had to keep our upper bodies strictly upright—slouching even a bit would ruin the line.

The cosplayer with black-to-red gradient hair bore an even heavier headpiece. The floating green semi-circular ring was actually secured atop her head using hidden clips and snap buttons. While shooting the third photo, an exaggerated laughing-back pose almost sent the half-ring sliding down, causing a moment of panic! Her black halter top was layered with pink and white color-blocking, paired with a studded belt at the waist to project a sharp, heroic vibe. To align with this edgy aesthetic, we adjusted her necklace and star pendant positions multiple times to ensure specular highlights caught the lens cleanly without awkward glare.

The friend with long teal hair mainly served to complement framing during positioning. The green-white-blue color-blocked jacket she wore boasted strong design flare, particularly geometric cuts around the shoulders that caught ambient light to present varying lighting layers from different angles.

Our props also carried unique charm, especially the round character badge keychains. Everyone carefully cradled them near their chest, urging the lens focus onto these hand accessories to enrich compositional details within the frame.

Choosing to shoot outside the collaboration restaurant relied heavily on natural daylight. While outdoor illumination enhances hair and skin translucency, it required dodging harsh direct sunlight to prevent unflattering hard shadows across our faces.

The final renders brought great satisfaction: while preserving each character's distinct traits, we infused a lively warmth unique to real-world group portraits. For these few photos, we spent two to three hours on makeup prep, costume fitting, and wig adjustments. The eye makeup especially required repeated discussion and refinement regarding eyeshadow blending boundaries to capture character expressions. After all, the magic of cosplay lies not merely in wearing costumes, but in embodying their spirit through gaze and makeup.

After a full day's shoot, although exhausted, we were deeply fulfilled. Doing what we love with like-minded friends turned even the hardship of crouching outside KFC searching for reflection angles into shared laughter before the camera lens. I think this embodies the true meaning of offline meetups: bringing flat 2D characters into tangible, authentic, and vibrant life together in our 3D world.
