On-site at the Genshin Impact Fes 2024, taking commemorative photos alongside the life-size standee of Navia for this Navia cosplay.
Preparing this cosplay costume required considerable effort: the navy-blue corset paired with golden embroidered trims and a white ruffled jabot created a striking visual contrast. The helm ornament at the waist had some real weight, requiring the corseted waistband to be cinched tight to highlight the correct silhouette proportions; although a bit tight, it greatly enhanced the defined contours on camera.
In terms of hair and makeup, the blonde wig was styled in advance with a large-barrel curling iron for set waves, and the crown was specifically backcombed for volume so it wouldn't collapse under the heavy black wide-brimmed hat adorned with sapphires and feathers. Blue contact lenses paired with dark brown eyeliner deepened the gaze. To ensure my complexion didn't look washed out under the complex interplay of outdoor and indoor lighting, blush was applied heavily, and I chose a red-toned lipstick to focus visual attention on the face.
During the shoot, the venue was densely crowded and the lighting was erratic. I picked a red wooden bookshelf as our backdrop, which resonated harmoniously with the vintage elegance of the costume. The photographer shot with a shallow depth of field, placing me and the standee in a layered front-to-back depth contrast to create a distinct three-dimensional feel. Throughout the shoot, I had to keep my core engaged and spine straight at all times; because the pannier skirt cage was so expansive, walking and turning could easily appear clunky, and slumping even slightly would make me look short on camera, requiring constant conscious tension in every movement.
The gloves were undeniably gorgeous, though the fingertips lacked dexterity, making adjusting the cuffs and hat brim quite time-consuming. The venue was brimming with fellow cosplayers and enthusiasts, and the welcoming atmosphere of exchanging styling tips and shoot insights was wonderful. Although walking around in this full gear all day left my feet aching and lower back exhausted, standing right beside the character standee as if breaking through the fourth dimension was an enchanting feeling. This experience genuinely honed my styling and photography execution as part of the Genshin Impact Creator Incentive Program journey, and I look forward to applying the techniques learned here to future works.
