Sharing the final photos of Ye Shunguang Cosplay from Zenless Zone Zero. This time, the overall visual aim is to embody the character's crisp and sharp feel.
The wig is made of silver-white high-breathability fiber. Since the original design is voluminous, it was intentionally trimmed in layers during styling, keeping the straight blunt bangs while adding subtle outward-curling layers on the sides. The small red horns on top of the head are securely fixed to avoid flattening the wig. For the makeup, the red eyes are paired with a glossy red eyeshadow, and the eyeliner is slightly elongated and winged at the outer corners to recreate the sharp gaze from the game. A matte-textured foundation was used for the base makeup to better accentuate the bright colors of the red eyes and red lips, making the facial features look three-dimensional.
The costume features a modified Chinese-style design dominated by white. The most eye-catching part is the upper body, where a patchwork of semi-transparent mesh material is used on the chest to contrast with the solid white fabric. Combined with the frog buttons on the mandarin collar, it retains the exquisite touch of traditional Chinese design. The cutouts on the sides of the clothes and shoulders, along with the white arm sleeves, add the sleekness of a combat suit to the overall look. In the waistband section, the black-and-white stripes interweave with the long red-and-black streamers on the outside, which not only anchors the large areas of white negative space but also adds visual layering through the dynamic movement of the streamers when walking.
The accuracy of the longsword prop was also a focus of this shoot. The blade is crafted with special undulating water-ripple patterns, and its surface is coated with silver-gray metallic paint that features a frost effect, with highlighted edges along the blade. The handguard on the hilt is designed into a metallic shape resembling a plum blossom, which feels quite heavy in hand but possesses an excellent overall balance.
The shooting venue was selected in an indoor studio scene with a strong Chinese retro atmosphere, where the background is decorated with bamboo and calligraphy scrolls featuring ancient poetry. A slender wooden chair sits on the floor, accompanied by warm yellow paper lanterns and a wooden screen next to it. This kind of setting perfectly complements the character's temperament of white hair and red eyes.
The photographer's angles were vital during the shoot, with multiple adjustments made for different poses. For example, a low-angle upward shot paired with my pose of pointing the sword forward effectively enhances the character's aura, while a front close-up emphasizes the sense of connection through the gaze.
During post-processing, we made sure to preserve the clarity of the overall image quality without using excessive high-contrast filters. While maintaining the texture of the skin, local saturation and brightness adjustments were made to the red and white tones to make the white purer and the red more vibrant, delivering a highly textured final photo result for this Anime-style makeup and styling showcase during our Cosplay photography project.
