[Tanga Ibuki cosplay] Blue Archive summer sports style, energetic moment with a volleyball and water gun

Today's shoot features Tanga Ibuki from Blue Archive in a summer sports style. Let's talk about the makeup and styling first. To restore the character's energetic yet somewhat obedient temperament, I put quite a lot of thought into the eye makeup this time, emphasizing the roundness of the eyes and choosing amber-colored contact lenses to match the bright yellow twin-tail wig. The wig was trimmed with brow-length bangs at the forehead, slightly curled on both sides, and tied with a black-and-white lace hair accessory on the left tail, enriching the head details.

For clothing, I chose a classic dark blue one-piece swimsuit, commonly known as a school swimsuit, with white Japanese Katakana printed on the chest. It is paired with white over-the-knee long stockings and red straps at the ankles, creating a very refreshing blue-white-red color contrast. To add a sense of everyday life and storytelling to the frame, a blue-and-yellow volleyball and a bright yellow toy water gun were used as interactive props during the shoot.

Regarding the venue selection, we deliberately picked an indoor environment with wooden flooring and white storage lockers, which, combined with the corkboard and old newspapers in the background, simulated the atmosphere of a school gymnasium or locker room. This kind of scene naturally carries a sense of daily life and won't steal the visual focus away from the character. In terms of action design, this shoot did not pursue overly exaggerated positioning, but instead showcased the vitality of a sports girl through postures that are everyday yet require physical control.

For example, the first pose of sitting on knees facing forward while supporting the volleyball requires core engagement and lowered shoulders to make the posture look upright rather than stiff. The second pose of sitting sideways to showcase the long leg lines heavily tests the stretching degree of the leg muscles, requiring pointed toes to extend the visual lines. The third pose of kneeling on one knee and raising the water gun is the most challenging, requiring full extension of the arm lines while balancing the center of gravity, and the gaze must also coordinate to convey a sense of aiming, allowing a static photo to generate dynamic tension.

In terms of shooting details, the school swimsuit material is relatively form-fitting, and even the slightest wrinkle will be magnified in front of the lens, so I needed to constantly communicate with the photographer and adjust the state of the costume. Kneeling and sitting on the floor in white stockings for a long time indeed leaves indentation marks on the knees and calves, which can be considered part of the daily experience of cosplaying. For lighting, we adopted a relatively soft front-side light, which not only brings out a translucent glow on the skin but also ensures that the texture of the white stockings and the reflection details of the school swimsuit are preserved in the frame.

For post-processing color grading, I chose a clear Japanese style, slightly reducing contrast, brightening the highlights, and emphasizing the feeling of a cool, bright summer afternoon. Portraying Tanga Ibuki this time was a wonderful attempt for me. Previously, I might have focused more on static studio shoots or gorgeous lighting, but this time, restricting the scene to a relatively narrow indoor space required me to convey the character's personality through body language and expressions under limited conditions. To find that sports-girl state, I specially looked at many photos and videos of volleyball matches before the shoot, learning their post-exercise expressions, such as the moment of slight fatigue but still bright eyes. Although the photos look relaxed and casual, actually every adjustment of pose required maintaining the rhythm of breathing. For instance, holding the water gun, I not only had to ensure my arm was held steady, but also had to look straight into the lens to convey a sense of confidence and playfulness. The combination of school swimsuit and white stockings is very classic, and wearing it indeed brings out a strong student-era vibe, but it also heavily tests body shape and posture. To present a better effect, I also did some targeted muscle stretches before the shoot to prevent looking too stiff during large movements. The overall shooting process went very smoothly, and everyone cooperated tacitly. The colors and textures ultimately presented in this photoset made me extremely satisfied.
