The main focus of this studio set for Genshin Impact Columbina Cosplay lies in portraying that aloof, cool elegance characteristic of the character. To present this atmosphere, I put a lot of thought into the costume props, lighting, and set design.
Let's start with the costume structure. The top features an off-the-shoulder design, tastefully revealing shoulder and neck lines, while the exquisite gold ornamental piece at the collar serves as the visual highlight of the upper body. Semi-transparent white tulle wraps around the arms like a shawl, tied loosely with crisscrossing white fabric straps at the cuffs for added depth. The lower half features a blue-and-white paneled umbrella-shaped tulle skirt; with moderate length and a mix of textures, the skirt hem creates natural folds and light/shadow variations when moving or seated, feeling remarkably light.
Next are the hair and makeup details. This time, I wore a black wig with straight bangs, featuring subtle red gradient highlights at the tips, which broke up the monotony of pure black while enhancing character recognition. The white wing-shaped hair accessories on top needed repeated angle adjustments during the shoot to ensure they didn't look heavy on camera and fitted the curve of the crown perfectly. For base and eye makeup, I intentionally reduced color saturation, using grayish earth tones to craft a deep, serene gaze, which, paired with slightly lowered eyes, attempted to capture the character's tranquil, untainted inner state.
The leg details were another highlight of this look. I paired it with white tights featuring intersecting geometric lines; this lace-up pattern modified leg lines while embedding bright blue bead decorations at the ankles. Such minor details shined brilliantly in close-ups or half-body shots, serving as a perfect finishing touch.
As for the set, translucent polyhedral crystal props were used on the left, which refracted delicate silver glints under the cool white studio lighting, creating a glacier- or dream-like visual effect. On the right were white Roman columns paired with light blue hydrangea bouquets, creating a Dreamy backdrop alongside a vast array of pure white tulle drapes casually spread out, filling the entire frame with narrative mood.
In truth, the difficulty of this Cosplay photography shoot lay in ambient light control. Because many reflective prop materials and white tulle drapes were arranged on set, it was easy to cause overexposure or detail loss. The photographer intentionally turned down the key light intensity and used surrounding fill light to gently envelop the subject, creating this high-key, ethereal effect. During shooting, I communicated frequently with the photographer regarding facial expression management, avoiding forced artificial smiles and immersing myself in the character's quiet, slightly melancholy state so the work would carry a true soul. Regarding hair, beyond the straight black long hair with red tips, these straight bangs required constant attention during shooting to avoid blocking sight or messy stray hairs. The stylist set the wig in advance to ensure a natural curvature.
Additionally, because the costume fabric is very airy, spreading the skirt in a seated position placed high demands on composition. During shooting, I arranged the tulle skirt neatly section by section, allowing the blue and white parts to display fluid layering so the trailing skirt blended into surrounding white tulle drapes, enhancing immersive dreaminess. Wearing these relatively complex stockings and high heels while maintaining a graceful kneeling posture on ground covered in soft white cloth was quite a test for core strength, but fortunately, the final lines in the frame appeared beautifully relaxed.
This character's setting fascinates me deeply—she is neither flashy nor noisy, yet holds immense expressive power within silence. Thus, during this cosplay interpretation, I abandoned daily sunniness as an Anime girl, holding my breath to convey a serene and ethereal emotion through eyes and body language. Perfecting a fictional character's 2D aesthetic relies not only on costumes and wigs, but even more on conveying her mental world through the shooting environment and expressions. Every time I view these blue-and-white Genshin Impact Columbina Cosplay final images, I feel the unique charm of anime roleplay and the delicate emotions hidden beneath the ice.
