[Unicorn Cosplay] Azur Lane: Exclusive Nurse Outfit Convention Photos from Day 1

For Day 1 of the BW expo, I cosplayed this Unicorn nurse outfit. After wrapping up, I quickly retouched a few photos; the overall result wasn't far from what I envisioned, and I felt my condition held up quite well.

First, let's talk about the styling concept. Unicorn's character setting is soft, adorable, reserved, yet striving to be helpful. Therefore, for the makeup, I abandoned sharp eyeliner and heavy contour shadows, focusing instead on expanding the blush under the eyes and using a glossy lip tint to preserve a slightly youthful, natural charm. The wig features light purple loose waves, a shade that can test one's skin tone; to match the brightness of the hair, the foundation was applied translucent and slightly fair to ensure a natural transition between wig and complexion.

The accuracy of the costume relies heavily on the white nurse-style dress. Rather than a conventional short cut, it features a straighter silhouette accented with the character's signature small red circular badge on the chest, while a thin black cord gently cinches the waist. The thick-knit brown drop-shoulder cardigan draped over it serves as the highlight of the look—echoing the outer layer from the original design while providing an everyday, cozy, and casual feel. In an expo environment packed with diverse colors, the palette of white, purple, and brown looks visually gentle. The White stockings underneath and the pink buckled Mary Jane shoes complete the sweetness of the lower half, with the stockings catching the hall's overhead lights with a subtle sheen that photographed beautifully.

Regarding composition choices: the first full-body standing shot captures the layered styling with agile grace. However, I personally recommend the seated pose in Photo 2; finding a high stool on the convention floor wasn't easy. In this shot, lowering the center of gravity highlights leg lines nicely, while the naturally relaxed hands create a soft, gentle posture that accurately conveys that timid yet affectionate desire to be close. The high-angle downward perspective in Photo 3 adds variety; the clasped hands create intimacy, and paired with an upward gaze, it strengthens the atmosphere of exclusive companionship.

However, wearing this outfit on site wasn't entirely effortless. Although the nurse dress is lightweight and breathable, the packed crowds combined with the venue air conditioning created temperature swings, and the thick knit cardigan made moving between areas hot and cold. The wig's bangs easily stuck to the forehead from walking and sweating, requiring frequent grooming. Furthermore, walking around an expo in White stockings makes them prone to smudges, especially around shoe edges, so keeping wet wipes on hand was essential.

During shooting, the photographer avoided harsh directional lights, using diffused soft bounce light across the frame to preserve fabric texture and delicate skin details. Background blur cleared out queuing crowds and cluttered booths, keeping the focus entirely on the character for a clean final look.

Overall, the photoshoot experience on Day 1 of BW was fantastic. Walking through the venue in this outfit turned many heads, with passersby calling out the character's name or asking for photos—this interaction is truly one of the joys of convention cosplay. Despite the lengthy preparation, changing, and makeup removal, seeing the finished Convention photos makes every bit of styling, makeup adjustment, and outfit testing entirely worthwhile in this Unicorn Cosplay session.
