While the excitement of CPGZ07 hasn't fully faded, I'm quickly organizing and sharing this set of Convention photos with everyone.
The greatest joy of this convention was teaming up with the super-supportive photographer @八次方根, capturing tons of satisfying candid moments on-site. Since the goal was simply to take pretty pictures, I chose the most comfortable and photogenic styling for makeup and wardrobe. This red-and-white JK uniform sailor suit truly carries an innate narrative vibe. The top is a slightly desaturated brick red paired with a white sailor collar edged with red piping—a design that looks exceptionally clean and crisp visually. The cuffs feature matching red-and-white color-blocking, leaning the entire ensemble toward a vintage Japanese school aesthetic in this Japanese style photography session. The bottom is a classic red pleated skirt with well-pressed pleats that fan out beautifully whether sitting or crouching.
Hoping to find a quiet location amidst the bustling, crowded convention, we explored several spots and finally discovered this outdoor white locker area. It genuinely felt like an everyday scene on a school campus or outside an apartment complex. With white lockers and gray concrete ground, no elaborate set was needed; simply standing there immediately set the mood. Moreover, the natural lighting that day was fantastic—soft, diffuse light illuminated my face, which, paired with a straight-bangs bob and round black-frame glasses, maxed out that artsy, bookish Meganekko aesthetic.
During the shoot, we experimented with several distinct styles. Among them, sitting on the steps resting my chin in my hand while looking at the camera is my personal favorite. It captured a very natural and relaxed state: the pleated skirt draped organically to both sides in the seated pose, while white socks wrapping the calves paired with slip-on block-heel loafers not only elongated the leg lines but also lent an obedient yet spirited charm to the demeanor.
I also love the two photos where I took off the glasses and held them in hand to examine them; I cherish those moments where the gaze sharpens once the frame obstruction is gone. Sometimes, taking off the glasses fosters a purer, more direct visual dialogue.
Of course, my most playful pose was pushing up my glasses while pointing both fingers at my temples. My friends said this gesture gives off a delightfully clumsy yet cute contrast, which instantly made the photos much more lighthearted and lively for this Meganekko character.
Coming back to this outfit, the magic of a JK uniform lies in how it carries a subtle sense of structured restraint while remaining completely grounded in daily life. Combined with this red-and-white colorway, whether for outdoor convention Convention photos or casual campus and street shoots, it photographs exceptionally well. Compared to common black-and-white or blue-and-white palettes, this red-and-white scheme flatters my complexion even more, bringing out a healthy, radiant glow in Japanese style photography.
Although spending the entire day at the convention was exhausting, seeing the finished edits makes every bit of effort feel worthwhile. I'm no photographer myself, and as the model in front of the lens, meeting a creator who understands your best angles and shares your wavelength is truly rare and precious. This trip to CPGZ07 became exceptionally memorable thanks to these Convention photos. With every shutter click, what's recorded is not just the scenery, but my carefree self fully immersed in the joy of cosplay. Whenever opportunities arise in the future, I definitely want to capture more of these simple, clean Japanese style photography daily slices.
