[Dolia cosplay] Honor of Kings: Song of the Sea Shore Adventure

Today's Dolia cosplay shoot was done outdoors, primarily to faithfully capture that oceanic atmosphere of Honor of Kings. The blue wig was exceptionally long, and with strong outdoor gusts, just detangling and smoothing it out took over half an hour. The strands were blended with pale-cyan highlights, looking wonderfully translucent in the sunlight.

For makeup, to honor the underwater lore of Mermaid cosplay, I deepened the blending along the lower eyelids, wore gray-blue contact lenses, and painted subtle light-blue markings across my cheeks. The costume was crafted primarily from sheer light-blue translucent fabric, sewn with pearl strands, white shells, and orange-red cord knots. Around my neck was a purple choker, a black-cord shell pendant, and a crossbody pearl chain, along with an iridescent wing bracelet on my left wrist.

I originally found a flight of steps to squat down and shoot, but right after I crouched down and set my pose, a little ginger cat suddenly leaped out of the adjacent flowerbed! Fixating on a lifted lock of my wig, it lunged straight at me and started swatting at it with its paws. While trying to protect my hairstyle, I had to keep my facial expression from breaking before the lens, barely managing to snap this overhead high-angle selfie!

The friends from the props crew nearby were doubled over laughing and didn't even come to help. In fact, sudden mishaps like this are quite common during outdoor shoots; wearing such long, voluminous hair naturally piques the curiosity of curious cats and dogs. To ensure the success rate of the final photos, in moments like this you can only rely on muscle memory to keep your expression steady.

Speaking of this wig, because of the massive volume of hair, it genuinely weighed down heavily on my neck. For the camera's sake, I specifically used styling products to add height at the crown, giving the overall silhouette a fuller look. As for makeup, during initial testing, I tried several pairs just to find the right soft grayish-blue contacts to evoke that spirited yet deep ocean look. The costume accessories were all hand-sewn; during shooting, I had to ensure the pearl chains didn't tangle into the hair while still revealing a bit of collarbone to maintain an airy, lightweight feel.

Regarding that overhead high-angle shot, it was meant to give the cascading hair strands richer layering; the detail of clutching my hair was selected after dozens of frames, keeping the wig from looking too messy while injecting an effortless, lived-in touch. So when that cat attacked, I was honestly on the verge of a breakdown after spending so much time perfecting the hairstyle. But in this line of cosplay work, surprise intrusions by little animals are par for the course, and sometimes they even turn into delightful serendipities in the shots.

This makeup deliberately emphasized the depth of the eyes, complementing the aquatic blue-toned outfit to maximize the Marine style cosplay ambiance. This wasn't just a simple cosplay outing, but also my own creative exploration into this deep-sea Mermaid cosplay theme. Despite the little unexpected episode, the entire journey was immensely entertaining. Seeing the sunlight filter through the Blue hair cosplay with such crystal clarity looks stunning in photos, and I can't wait to finish retouching the entire set.
