[Misaki cosplay] Blue Archive Kisaki: An Attempt at the Qipao Styling

Preparing this Kisaki Qipao look took a lot of careful thought regarding the fine details. The outfit is a sleeveless modern cheongsam set against a deep navy base, featuring exquisite golden dragon embroidery across the chest and abdomen. The frog closures on the mandarin collar feature a blue-and-white colorway that echoes the butterfly hair accessories in my hair. To add textural layering, I paired it with a dark pinstriped longline suit blazer, slouched casually off my shoulders and arms rather than worn stiffly, keeping the overall silhouette dynamic and relaxed. For the lower half, I styled it with form-fitting black shorts and black leather high heels, rounded out by black gloves to unify the entire tonal palette within a sleek, dark register.

For the hairstyle, I styled two oversized buns paired with cascading twin tails and cleanly trimmed straight bangs. Vivid blue contact lenses served as the focal point of the makeup; to give my gaze an expression faithful to the character, I deepened the eyeshadow blending around the lash line. During the shoot, photographer @-Blank- provided wonderful guidance on framing and posing. The set was beautifully designed around a classical Chinese horseshoe armchair as the visual anchor. Sitting cross-legged on the armchair with my right arm resting along the curved armrest and my left hand placed naturally, the posture carried an imposing presence on camera while accentuating leg lines gracefully.

The small teatable beside me was dressed with a welcoming pine bonsai and several blue-bound thread-stitched books, while the low wooden table to the lower right held calligraphy brushes, a brush rest, and white porcelain teaware. The white paper umbrella inscribed with calligraphy was another deliberate prop; placed opened on the left, it balanced the composition while infusing a scholarly elegance. To the right, a branch of faux white plum blossoms added a poetic touch.

Kisaki radiates a calm, refined, and subtly distant persona. Throughout the session, I maintained a disciplined, restrained posture with steady resolve in my eyes. Though I infused personal interpretations of new Chinese-style aesthetics into the shoot—which might carry slight OOC moments—I genuinely love this synthesis between anime character design and traditional Chinese elements. Moving around and holding poses across the set in black high heels was physically demanding, but seeing the final images made every bit of effort worthwhile. This shoot was a truly memorable experience that sparked fresh inspiration for future Chinese-style cosplay projects.
