Today, I'm sharing a set of finished cosplay photos of Misaki in a Gymnastics uniform. While this gymnastics uniform design is simple, the details are very enduring: a white short-sleeved top with blue piping paired with dark blue athletic shorts featuring white side stripes, creating an overall crisp, refreshing look. To align with the character's setting, I intentionally matched it with over-the-knee White stockings and blue-and-white indoor gym shoes. This coordination not only flatters the leg contours beautifully, but walking across the gymnasium's wooden floor also perfectly fits the overall atmosphere.
In terms of hair and makeup, Misaki's dark blue double buns paired with cat ears and transparent hair accessories require some patience to style. The setting of the wig and the direction of the hair strands were meticulously adjusted. The makeup also emphasized the layering of the eye makeup according to the character's traits, paired with vivid contact lenses, striving to present a lively and playful texture. It was a great honor to work with photographer Jeffrey佛瑞 this time; we utilized the on-site equipment in the gymnasium to design three different sets of poses.
The first set was inside a metal equipment cart filled with various balls. This scene offered great interactivity. Sitting among a pile of volleyballs and basketballs felt rather cramped, so positioning my legs and arms required extra care. Cradling a blue, white, and yellow volleyball in my arms with legs crossed, this pose nicely displayed the texture of the White stockings while keeping the frame's composition tight. The photographer leveraged this angle to draw the viewer's eyes directly toward the face and leg contours, creating strong visual tension.
The second set was sitting on top of a black vaulting box. Utilizing the elevation of the vaulting box, the photographer shot from a slightly low angle, which visually elongated the leg proportions. Supporting myself with both hands on the mat, with one leg naturally hanging down and the other slightly raised, my body's center of gravity leaned back into a stable yet relaxed posture. The focus of this pose was to show off limb extension, while also bringing out the three-dimensional cut of the athletic shorts paired with the over-the-knee socks.
The third set was sitting directly on the floor. With legs bent to one side, one hand propping myself up on the wooden floor and the other resting on my legs, the overall pose was relatively quiet. To keep the shot from looking too plain, I adjusted my gaze and head angle, tilting slightly toward the camera to inject a touch of interactivity. When shooting on wooden flooring, moving around in over-the-knee stockings required extreme caution since it is quite slippery, but for the sake of the final image, these subtle adjustments were completely worthwhile.
Overall, it was a very enjoyable shooting experience. As a common trope in anime works, a gymnastics uniform may look casual, but capturing the character's distinct traits and vitality requires plenty of homework on pose design and camera language. From repeated micro-adjustments of posture to capturing expressions, every step aimed to maximize the character's charm and the youthful energy of this outfit in Anime-style photography.
