[Xishi Cosplay] Honor of Kings Poetic Jiangnan: Hard to Find Again in the Misty Rain

It has been a while since we shot this Poetic Jiangnan set, and today I've finally sorted out the raw photos and retouched cuts. Every time I see this costume, that line from the thread automatically pops into my mind: \"The rain on the mid lane was heavy that day, and I couldn't find you either.\" That gentle, hazy, and slightly melancholic atmosphere of the Jiangnan water towns fits perfectly with my impression of Xishi.

The texture of this costume is truly worth talking about. The main color palette of the top and skirt is a gradient transition from lake blue to white, creating a water-ripple effect that looks incredibly translucent under natural light or studio softboxes. The surface of the fabric is also embellished with delicate water ripples and dark lotus patterns, and combined with the exquisite mandarin collar and frog buttons at the neckline, the traditional Chinese style is directly maximized. What surprised me the most was the sleeve design; the large white base with lace trim and gold edges added a touch of sweet refinement to the originally ancient cut. The fabric of the lower skirt is very lightweight and drapes beautifully, so whether in that curled-up posture or sitting on the floor, the hem spreads out naturally and looks very flowing.

Hair and makeup were also major highlights of this shoot. This time, I chose straight-cut bangs, and the hair buns on both sides were specially dyed with a hint of blue to match the outfit. The two large braids draping over my chest were tied with red strings at the ends—I must praise this detail, as adding a touch of warm color to the overall blue-and-white cool tone not only breaks up the monotony but also makes the styling more dynamic and recognizable. To match the cool and elegant vibe of \"Poetic Jiangnan,\" I selected amber contact lenses paired with a clean base and natural red lips. This makeup style isn't aggressive; instead, it adds a sense of innocence and a storytelling quality to my gaze.

The studio scene setup was also highly atmospheric. Behind me was an ink-wash calligraphy scroll, a paper fan printed with calligraphy on the left, blue-purple wisteria flowers cascading from above and around, and pink lotus buds ready to bloom on the right. The wooden hollow window frames as the background perfectly fit the antique atmosphere of Jiangnan water towns. To capture this serene vibe, the photographer lowered the lights slightly to let the light fall from the upper side, which clearly highlighted the fabric texture and embroidery of the clothes while keeping the skin tone looking very natural and clear.

In terms of wear, I also tried a small styling mix-and-match challenge. While the upper body carries a full traditional Chinese feel, I paired the lower body with pure white tights and black shiny platform round-toe leather shoes. These leather shoes are quite modern and carry a school-academy vibe, creating a wonderful fusion when combined with traditional garments. It keeps the character from looking entirely aloof and detached, adding a touch of everyday warmth. The curled-up sitting posture in the first photo was chosen to showcase the lower half of the outfit and the shoes to the maximum extent, which, topped with the bracelet and the red ribbon on my wrist, gave the styling a very high degree of completion.

Actually, as cosplayers, we are often not just recreating a character's appearance, but also trying to understand and express their inner core. Xishi is such a lively and flowing character in the game, and when this skin was released, I kept thinking about how to interpret that vibe of appearing gentle and soft on the outside but carrying immense power within. Whether sitting quietly in the first photo or slightly raising my arm to look at the camera in the second, I tried my best to relax my body language, avoiding exaggerated poses to present the ink-wash painting style of \"Poetic Jiangnan\" in the most natural state. This slightly melancholic gaze and elegant temperament serve as the core of this entire set.

Sorting through these photos and seeing these frozen moments makes me feel that all the effort of blasting the AC in the studio and repeatedly adjusting postures was entirely worth it. This is exactly the joy of cosplay—bringing a beloved game character into reality through an outfit, a makeup style, and a set of light and shadow, while infusing one's own understanding of the character. I hope this Poetic Jiangnan set lets everyone see the Xishi in my eyes.
