When I picked up this skewer of grilled sausage, I suddenly felt that the atmosphere by this windowsill was just right. I previously received many private messages from friends saying they liked this look with the long pink rabbit ears. Today, taking the opportunity of sharing these convention photos, I'll share some personal insights on recreating this outfit. To match the character's lively yet slightly lazy temperament, I intentionally deepened the blending at the edges of my blue-purple colored contact lenses for the eye makeup, giving my gaze a clearer, shimmering look rather than simply popping the colored lenses in and calling it a day.
Speaking of this costume, the most time-consuming parts were the wide waist belt with a golden badge pattern and the layered skirt hems. To prevent the pleated skirt from looking too stiff when moving, I visited the fabric market twice to select a material that had some weight but also a certain drape. This way, whether walking or sitting like in the photos, the texture of the clothes and the pull of gravity look more natural. The white cross-collar shirt on the upper body paired with a red bow tie, along with that pair of fluffy long pink rabbit ears, integrates many real-world three-dimensional tailoring considerations into the anime style.
On the day this photo was taken, the natural light outside the window was exceptionally good. We didn't use heavy key light on the face, but simply used a reflector to fill in the details of the shadows, which surprisingly preserved the gradient light and shadow on the collar and shoulders. The photographer's timing for the candid shot was precise, catching the pose of my half-finger gloves holding the bamboo skewer right at the moment I looked into the lens. Actually, many people at conventions might overlook this kind of small prop, but I feel that this type of easily accessible snack from daily life actually makes the cosplayed character feel more grounded in the frame.
As for the grilled sausage in the picture, it was actually a little episode. Originally, I wanted to hold a sophisticated weapon or something, but this kind of convention snack somehow perfectly fit the relaxed afternoon atmosphere, serving as a unique deconstruction of the character. The choice of black glossy ankle boots paired with the detail of the thigh ring subtly pressing into the skin perfectly elongated the visual proportions when combined with the dark blue skirt hem. I hope that through this set of photos, you can see my obsession with even more details of this character's outfit.
The set of images posted today is mainly intended to present a more lifelike look at a Coser daily life at a convention, where the natural light source by the window makes the texture of the final photos look clearer. In terms of makeup, I paid close attention to the color block separation between the pink wig and the red-and-white bows on the headwear to avoid color blurring. In addition to wide shots, close-ups from different angles actually showcase the hidden details of the clothes better; for example, the gold thread patterns adorning the cuffs only reveal their best luster when brought close to the lens.
