This Halloween-themed photoshoot centered around dark Gothic style cosplay and vampires as the visual core during early conceptualization. For the costume, I specially selected a black and red patchwork Gothic puffy dress with complex hidden patterns, adorned with large areas of black lace netting and a ruby at the neck, which, together with the exaggerated headpiece styling, crafted a thick classical and eerie aura. To echo the theme, the wig utilized short light blue hair paired with bright red eyes, further coordinated with a fair base and dark red lips, striving to present an exquisite, non-human doll-like texture on the frame. The lower attire coordination also added a sense of layers; the black stockings with spiderweb patterns and platform buckle shoes allowed the entire styling to hold an excellent extension of lines in both standing and sitting postures.

For the selection of props, I prepared a red apple, a skull, and a sharp red long staff. Serving as the visual focus, the red apple was highly prominent in the entire dark-toned scene. When held in hand or extended towards the lens, it could instantly catch the viewer's gaze, generating a powerful sense of interaction. The configuration of the skull and tombstone further reinforced the cemetery and horror theme. The set was arranged with a large amount of artificial spiderwebs and black and red vines, which, combined with the checkerboard floor and black crosses, crafted a complete, immersive vampire territory.

During the shoot, the photographer Wakaba and I made repeated attempts regarding lighting and composition. For the lighting setup, a spotlight was used to shine from the upper side, highlighting the three-dimensional feel of the headpiece and face while darkening the surrounding environment, making the red apple and the red long staff look even more dazzling in the light. The shooting perspectives also covered a low-angle lying flat view, dynamic postures holding props, and static displays sitting on the props. The close-up in picture 3 extending the red apple, holding a powerful sense of interaction between the gaze and the prop, is highly suitable as the cover for this dark fairy tale photoset. The shooting process was indeed physically demanding, but the final presented dark fairy tale atmosphere completely achieved the expected effects, making it a very fulfilling experience overall.
