This shoot featured Lilith from Fate/Grand Order. To recreate the character's overall look, the hairstyle design utilized silver-white pigtails with naturally dark roots that gradually transition into purple-pink toward the tips. This gradient coloring technique not only enhances the wig's layering, but also allows the hair strands to exhibit a softer, blended effect under the lights. Paired with a black pointed horn headpiece, it instantly brought out the character's unique traits.
For clothing selection, we stayed as close as possible to the character's original design. The black lace trim at the neckline appears delicate with a touch of mystery, while the purple rose ornament anchored in the center serves as the visual highlight of this Anime-style look, breaking up the monotony of the solid black tone. The top features a halter design that highlights shoulder and neck lines, combining black mesh and lace patchwork to achieve a sense of subtle sensuality merged with lightness.
Beyond the clothing, accessories were also carefully considered. The right arm features a black leather arm cuff that reflects a subtle sheen under illumination. Glossy leather gloves on both hands add a touch of cool edge, giving the overall styling a dash of modern punk or Dark Gothic style charm amidst the classical backdrop.
Thanks to the highly fitting environment setup, large dark red curtains combined with warm yellow crystal chandeliers overhead created the ambiance of a vintage stage. During shooting, we captured a high-angle shot looking down; with my head slightly tilted, maintaining a languid gaze and expression, I attempted to convey the character's composure—and even a hint of disdain or nonchalance. Under this interplay of light and shadow, the combination of black and purplish-red felt harmonious within the frame, showcasing the charm of the Dark Gothic style beautifully.
Bringing this look together really tested my patience, especially shaping the pigtails and maintaining the wig, which required considerable time to set and keep voluminous. Lighting angles also needed repeated adjustments to highlight both the hair gradient and the shadow details of the outfit. For makeup, the eye contours and eyeliner were specifically emphasized to make the gaze appear sharper. The lips featured a nude matte lipstick to avoid stealing focus from the overall makeup. The skin tone presented a cool-toned fair texture that created a pleasing color harmony with the purple-pink hair tips.
The shooting environment of this set put composition to the test. Although the chandelier overhead provided good ambient lighting, it also easily cast complex shadows across the face. Consequently, the photographer and I adjusted the reflector bounce angles multiple times to achieve a translucent quality in facial lighting. Black lace fabric easily blurs into a muddy mess in low-light environments, requiring manual contouring during post-processing to preserve texture. Overall, I feel the final results aligned well with the pre-shoot vision, fully displaying character dimension against a retro backdrop. Whether it's the slightly tilted head posture or the subtle light reflection off the arm cuff and leather gloves, everything enhances the rich texture of these Cosplay photography shots.
For this character, I believe capturing her slightly arrogant nature is the essence. Thus, in controlling expressions and posture, I didn't try to look overly cheerful or force any dramatic poses, opting instead for a relaxed yet confident state. Paired with professional studio lighting, the entire frame gains a retro oil-painting quality while preserving a distinct Anime-style look attribute. This process of devoting oneself completely to recreating both the exterior appearance and internal aura of a character is truly the most rewarding aspect of participating in creative projects like this.
