Bringing out Dusk's Jade Inkstone skin from Arknights was truly an ambitious project in terms of styling. The outfit features exceptionally rich layering, with distinct textures ranging from the inner garments to the sheer outer chiffon. To ensure that airy, flowing drape while walking or seated, we spent a great deal of time adjusting the fabric pleats and sash alignments.
The wig was specially styled with black-and-cyan dip-dyed highlights, paired with pointed elf ears and the cyan horn headpiece to establish an overall cool-toned aesthetic. The makeup centered primarily around the eyes: crimson contacts combined with reddish blending at the outer corners of the eyes closely matched the character's distinctive traits. The cyan-blue gloves patterned with reddish veins served as another deliberate detail, paired with dark prayer beads to evoke that blend of classical elegance and inhuman mystique.
For props, we prepared an ink-wash oiled paper umbrella, a round silk fan painted with lotus blossoms, along with a celadon tea set and a bamboo mat. The photoshoot location was chosen beside a waterside courtyard featuring traditional Chinese wooden latticed windows, with calligraphy screens in the background and chiffon drapes adorned with cascading pink blossoms framing the space. The afternoon light was exquisite, cutting through the wooden windows to cast sharp contrasts of light and shadow; the backlighting catching the sheer robes instantly brought out the fabric's luminous, translucent texture.
During the shoot, my favorite composition was sitting by the pool sipping tea; we tested multiple iterations to balance my center of gravity and the direction of my gaze. The pairing of the bamboo mat and tea set lent the frame an authentic touch of lived-in tranquility. Another shot taken peering through the door crack utilized the flanking door frames as foreground framing, with that single shaft of piercing light intensifying a sense of voyeuristic mystery. I also loved the low-angle shot holding the round fan—the umbrella canopy and fan enriched the composition, giving the skirt train an immense visual sweep from that low perspective.
Looking back across the entire Cosplay photography session, being able to express my interpretation of this Ancient style cosplay skin through the harmony of wardrobe, props, and set was deeply rewarding. Blending the waterscape with classical architecture undeniably elevated the final images. That wraps up this share; off to sort through the remaining photos now!
