These convention photos of Fu Hua's Azure Court have finally been sorted out, and a lot of effort was indeed put into the details from clothing to props. The layering of the Azure Court outfit is very rich. The upper body features a halter-neck design, with the neckline and chest spliced with a large amount of white lace and pleated edges. The blue corset at the waist paired with silver star-shaped accessories nicely outlines the waistline. What satisfies me the most is still the irregularly cut skirt hem. The front-short and back-long design coupled with long white ribbons makes the tulle fly around when walking or posing, giving a particularly strong sense of motion.
The wig and makeup were also styled in the direction of a detached, ethereal celestial vibe. After putting on the bright blue wig, I deliberately deepened the blue smudging on my eyebrows and eye makeup, matching it with blue contact lenses to get as close as possible to that calm yet somewhat aloof temperament. To match the color tone of the clothing, the overall makeup leans light, but more highlighter was applied to maintain a translucent feel under the overhead lights of the convention hall. The blue flower and feather hair ornament and the long veil on top of the head were fixed with hairpin clips. Because the veil is very long, it was particularly easy to step on when walking around the convention, so I had to be careful all the time.
In terms of props, that white lace hollowed-out umbrella is an artifact for photos; the patterns on the umbrella surface are very detailed, but the skeleton is relatively fragile, and I was afraid of breaking it while shuttling through the venue. Another long-handled weapon hangs at my side; the metal texture and blue bird decoration are quite heavy, making it actually pull down a bit when hung on the belt. The white high heels paired with long tube socks on my feet—the cross straps of the socks and the pearl chains around the ankles look particularly good, but because the high heels have a relatively high heel, walking in the venue for an entire afternoon really made the soles of my feet a bit sore.
The shooting environment for the convention photos is actually quite demanding. The lighting at the convention site was very messy, and there were many people in the background, so the photographer spent a lot of effort finding angles. The effect of the skirt hem flying in the pictures was captured by finding a passage with slightly fewer crowds and using a fan to blow the fabric. The post-processed blue flying bird special effects match the color tone of the whole picture very well, giving the photos originally taken in the venue a bit more of a fantasy feel.
I am really happy to cosplay Fu Hua this time; the texture of the clothing and the accuracy of the props both made me very satisfied. Although a full day at the convention was exhausting, seeing the finished photos made me feel it was all worth it. Looking forward to taking this equipment to an outdoor location next time to shoot another set in a different style.
