Tomorrow is the Xiamen Manqiu 8.8 anime convention, and I only remembered today to look for Collaborative photography. Having not seriously taken convention photos in a long time, I'm treating this as a casual comeback shoot to get back into the groove.
This time I've prepared the dark blue winter costume outfit from Touhou Project shown in Photo 2; I personally really love the details throughout the costume. The dark blue top is covered with embroidered snowflake and ice crystal patterns, while white translucent lace puff sleeves offer a fluffy touch, complemented by a red drawstring at the neckline as a vibrant highlight that keeps the look from appearing overly cold. The skirt hem design is also a highlight: the outer layer features a dark blue jagged trim paired with multi-layered white ruffles in the lining, creating rich dimensionality when combined. The lace trim around the collar and those tiny buttons are quite delicate, working with the red cord across the chest to enhance the overall sense of depth so it doesn't look monotonous. The white tights offer a snug fit, harmonizing beautifully with the layered skirt hem and echoing the character's overall aesthetic.
I also attached a full-body outdoor shot taken previously (Photo 1). Once fully dressed with accessories, a blue wig, and a large plush pom-pom bow, it genuinely supports the character's cool yet vibrant persona. The light wings on the back fit the outfit quite well, offering an airy movement when walking around; although I didn't deliberately hunt for optimal lighting at the time, it served as good warm-up practice wearing the full gear.
Regarding this casual convention comeback shoot, I mostly want to rediscover the feeling of attending conventions like I used to. Xiamen Manqiu takes place every year, and I'm fairly familiar with the surrounding venue area, which is great for capturing natural, well-lit convention photos. Tomorrow the exhibition center will likely be crowded, so I plan to enter early, grab a few well-lit corridors or outdoor spots first, and aim to take several photo sets while morning natural light is at its best.
Since I'm attending the convention, for Collaborative photography, I naturally hope to meet a compatible photography partner on site. My requirements aren't high—as long as you enjoy shooting this cute, lively style, have gear on hand, and are willing to spend 10 to 20 minutes taking a few shots of me at the expo, that would be wonderful. Since it's been a long time since I posed in front of a camera, if the photographer I meet tomorrow can kindly guide my positioning and eye focus a bit, I would be deeply grateful, which will also improve output efficiency for both of us.
Speaking of how this outfit feels at the expo, it's actually quite manageable. Although it's a puffy skirt, the hem isn't heavy so holding it isn't tiring, and once the blue wig is styled, it doesn't obstruct vision too much. However, with wings on my back, walking through crowded halls will require paying a bit of attention when turning around to avoid bumping into passersby. Wig and headpieces will need to be fixed early tomorrow morning, or they might easily get messed up in convention crowds.
For tomorrow's Collaborative photography, I mainly want to capture candid half-body and full-body shots with scene backgrounds, without needing a rigid studio feel. As long as there is sufficient light, natural skin tones are fine without excessive skin smoothing, keeping the costume's original color layers intact. Since the outfit details are already rich enough, a clean backdrop or one with subtle outdoor greenery under natural light will suit this comeback atmosphere nicely.
Posting casually to meet people actually feels quite relaxed—no need to strictly force schedules or plan itineraries, purely seeing if I can bump into friends on the same wavelength tomorrow.
